All I Want for Christmas: Virtual Challenge

Sporting Events UK in partnership with Bay Running Shop presents the All I Want for Christmas Virtual Challenge.

We have teamed up with the Bay Running Shop to bring you a festive virtual challenge. We would like lots of you to get involved and see, as our Sporting Buddies, if we can collectively run the distance from Canterbury to Lapland in the month of December - that's 1961 miles! You can run as many times as you want during the month to help reach the total, logging each of your runs on our portal here.

We are also raising money in this challenge for SNAAP. They are a local charity who provide an extensive range of services to children with every kind of disability, aged from 0-25 years, in partnership with parents. The focus of the services is upon all of the child's needs including educational, social, developmental and emotional. The unique angle is they focus upon the whole family and not just on the child with disabilities.

There will be some great prizes provided by Bay Running Shop and ourselves! The categories will include: Furthest Distance during the Challenge, Best Christmas Selfie, Most Improved Runner, and some fun spot prizes too - so whatever your ability you might just win a prize.

Everyone will get a special medal to celebrate the challenge.

FAQs:

Is there an age limit?

The challenge is open all ages. However, anyone under 18 must run with an adult.

How do I keep safe when running in the area?

Make sure you adhere to the Government Social Distancing Guidelines when on your run. Please keep a safe 2M distance from anyone outside of your household, and remember under the current government guidelines you can only run with one other person at the same time. We recommend you run in daylight hours and stick to routes you are familiar with.

How can I track how far I am running?

The easiest way to do this is to use an app on your smartphone that tracks your run for you. Free examples of this include the Nike Run Club, Google Fit and Strava.

When does the challenge end?

The challenge ends at 10pm on 31st December 2020.

Good luck everyone! Don’t forget to let us know how you are getting on using #seukchallenge on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
