Orienteering challenge - Saturday 6th to Wednesday 17th March

Marlow Orienteering Challenge

This week we have an Orienteering Challenge, it’s a cross between a running race and a treasure hunt. The challenge can be done in pairs or on your own between now and up to including Wed 17March (socially distanced of course). You can walk, jeff, and/or run the course; it looks complicated, but it really is easy and fun to do.

If you’ve done this before, you will know what to do – just follow the instructions below.  If you missed out on the November Challenge and are new to orienteering, then read these instructions first.

There are two courses to choose from – you can do one or the other. Or do them both (but they are not “linked” – you will need to complete them separately).
The first course is based in Marlow Bottom and Marlow N – some people tried this November time. This is a score event where you chose your own route from the start back to the start with as many controls collected in 60 minutes with different numbered controls attracting differing points.
The second course is based in Marlow Town. This is a score event where you chose you own route from the start back to the start with as many controls collected in 60 minutes.

Step 1: Choose which course/s you going to

Step 2: Download and print off your maps -
1.    Permanent short course in Marlow Common Woods (use this as a trial course first so that you can get an idea of what to do)
2.    MapRunF course in Marlow Bottom and Marlow N
3.    MapRunF course in Marlow Town

Step 3: Both MapRunF courses can be downloaded and run with GPS on, from the MapRunF app
•    For the Marlow Bottom course, on the MapRun app, click on Events Near Me and select TVOC TVSS Nov20 MarlowBottom.  (Or click on Select Event >> UK >> Thames Valley >> TVSS >> TVOC TVSS Nov20 MarlowBottom)
•    For the Marlow Town course, on the MapRun app, click on Events Near Me and select TVOC TVSS Event 6 Marlow.  (Or click on Select Event >> UK >> Thames Valley >> TVSS >> TVOC TVSS Event 6 Marlow)

Step 4: Head for the start of your course
1.    Marlow Bottom start (and finish) is at a Fire Hydrant Sign on the left towards the top of Burford Close) and
2.    Marlow Town start (and finish) is at the Sir Steve Redgrave Statue in Higginson Park).

Step 5: Enjoy and have fun.

Any technical questions, please feel free to contact Andrew Southwood or Patrick Grindley.
