Seas the day! - Coastal Series 2

Holland Haven Country Park, Holland-on-Sea, Essex

The second event in our 4 race coastal series for 2021 is a half marathon on the Essex coast. Each event within the 4 race series will have an individual bespoke medal with all 4 making up a set with a similar coastal theme. In the interests of making the medal something that can be utilised after the event, other than proudly hanging on your wall, should you wish to do so the ribbons can be removed and the hidden medal hangers enable the use of the medal as a coaster (forgive the pun!) for example or something similar. We are sure you'll love the design as much as we do!

THE COURSE

Here is a link to the course route - Run Course

This 5km multi terrain (but predominantly flat tarmac!) course, starts on the upper promenade at Holland On Sea, taking you along the seafront towards Frinton On Sea. It enters the picturesque Holland Haven country park, running along the lower gravel track with great views across the stunning Country Park and Frinton golf club. At the turn around point there is a short sharp slope before heading back along the concrete sea wall towards Holland on Sea. Upon reaching Holland again, you drop down on to the lower promenade to enjoy the views of the sandy beaches, before you head back to the upper promenade towards to the feed station to complete the lap.

The completely traffic free, predominantly flat tarmac course comprising of 5km loops, means will need to complete 4 laps for the half marathon distance.

AID STATION

With an aid station at approximately 5km intervals, you will have the ability to fuel yourself without having to carry everything you might need. You may leave a bag with your specific requirements at the aid station, for you to raid as you see fit! Alternatively, there will be flapjacks, fruit and nuts, and also water and squash, should you feel like a change!

PLEASE NOTE – In an attempt to reduce our race-day plastic waste, this is a CUPLESS event!  We will provide all drinks and refreshments as per our usual aid stations, but you will need to provide a receptacle of some description.  It can be a reusable cup, soft flask or whatever vessel you choose, even your very own running shoe at the end of every lap, but we won’t be providing any cups at all, and there will be no drinking from jugs either!  We will, of course, be more than happy to assist you with the filling of whatever you choose as normal. If you wish, you are able to purchase a Hydrapak Speedcup online as part of your registration for £2, or £3.95 on race day at registration.

An opportunity to run on a fast, lapped course, without the need to carry your usual ‘clobber’ and with a sought after, unique, bespoke medal, this promises to be a fantastic event for runners of all abilities. UKA Affliated Member & Race Permit issued by TRA.

There will be no excuse for littering given the ability to dispose of any unwanted rubbish at the end of every lap in the bins provided.
