RACE MAKER ROLES

 
 

Goody Bag & Race Pack preperation

 

 

 

The Goody Bag & Race Pack Team meet a day or two before race day to prepare the goody bags and race packs for the runners. This normally take about two hours.

 

 
 

Course & Signage Set Up

 
 

 

The Set Up Team support our Signage Manager, Adrian with the preparation of the course, including the placement of the signs and traffic management hardware.

This is an early start, meeting at the Race HQ. Normally you will be finished and having a cuppa by 7:30am.

This role lends itself to a Race Maker that wants to be around to either run in the race or watch a friend or family running.

 

 
 

Race Day Marshal

 
 

 

The Race Day Marshal role is primarily to keep the runners and public safe. 

By guiding and supporting those taking part in the event, you can ensure that everyone has a fun, enjoyable and safe day with Sublime.

The race day marshals cover the following areas:

  • On-course marshals
  • Parking 
  • Registration
  • Baggage
  • Start /Finish Area

You will be allocated one of these roles. If you have a strong preference, please let us know in the comments box when you register.

Please Note: Children under the age of 16 will not be allowed to accompany volunteers on public highways. Please contact our Race Maker Manager here for more details.

 

 

 
 

Cycle Support

 
 

 

The Cycle Support team work with the Race Maker Manager, Stuart, to carry out several important tasks that require speed, where motor vehicles are either not suitable or not permitted.

These tasks may include, lead cyclist, tail cyclist, timing results delivery & runner support.

Please note: You will need to bring your own bicycle and cycle helmets must be worn at all times when riding your bicycle please.

 

 

 
 

Water Station Team

 

 

 

The Water Station Team(s) support our Water Station Manager, Grahame, with the preparation of the water stations and presentation of water to the runners as they run past in the race. Once the tail cyclist has confirmed the last runner has passed, the Water Station Team then break down the water stations and check the surrounding area is clear of litter and water bottles.

 

 

 
 

Break Down Team

 
 

 

The Break Down Team support our Signage Manager, Adrian with the removal of the course infrastructure, including the signage and traffic management hardware.

You will need to be at the Race HQ for 12:00 midday. This usually takes a couple of hours.

This role lends itself to a Race Maker that wants to be around to either run in the race or watch a friend or family running.

 

 
 


 

 

 

 

FAQs
What are the benefits for individuals?

 
 

 

All volunteers will receive a full briefinga Race Maker t-shirt, a packed lunch, teas and coffees and of course the 'famous' Sublime Cheese Puffs. In addition to this you will receive the choice of a Free race entry into a future Sublime 10k for yourself or a friend, alternatively you can choose a bottle of wine or a box of chocolates.

All volunteers will also go into the Race Maker prize draw at each event to win the following:

- £100 Ronhill voucher
- A pair of Brooks trainers and gait analysis from Advance Performance (worth £120)

- A pair of Aftershokz bone conduction headphones (worth £100)

You also enjoy the sense of satisfaction that you are enabling us to put on the best event possible, giving our runners a wonderful experience. Volunteering at a Sublime event provides you with new experiences and skills to take into your personal and professional life. You’ll also experience the fun atmosphere of a Sublime event and have the chance to meet new people.

 

 
  Run for FREE scheme   
 

 

You can run for FREE if you provide a volunteer for a race that you wish to run in. The volunteer will receive all of the goodies listed above but you will receive the free race entry.

Your volunteer will be there to support you and see you run too.

Please enter as normal and we will refund your entry fee instead of providing your volunteer with a race entry code after the race.

What are the benefits for charities, running clubs and groups?

 
 

 

All volunteers within a charity or group will receive the individual benefits detailed above. Plus the charity or group will receive the following:

20 volunteers (at one race): 
The charity or group can display their own banners within the Start / Finish area and receive a £100 cash contribtion towards their cause.

30 volunteers (at one race): 
The charity or group can display their own banners within the Start / Finish area. Enjoy brand exposure on our Facebook event, website and event specific communications to the runners and receive a £150 cash contribtion towards their cause.

40 volunteers (at one race): 
The charity or group can display their own banners within the Start / Finish area. Enjoy brand exposure on our Facebook event, website and event specific communications to the runners. Have two race categories named after the organisation, present the trophies for their category at the prize giving and receive a £200 cash contribtion towards their cause.

 

 
 
Why do you need me?
 
 

 

Our events simply wouldn’t be possible without a team of remarkable and enthusiastic volunteers. Volunteer at one of our events and you’ll be playing an important role in making the race an amazing experience for our runners.

 

 
  What will I be doing?  

 

 

Volunteer roles range from helping in the baggage store, giving out water along the route at water stations, directing and cheering on the runners as a marshal, to being at the finish area to reward runners with their medals, technical t-shirts and goody bags.

 

 
 

How long will I be needed?

 
 

 

Most of our volunteer roles will be needed on site between 07.30 and 13.00 depending on the role.

For our 24 hour and 12 hour races times will differ and we operate in shifts.

You’ll receive exact timings in your pre-event briefing email closer to event day.

 

 
 

Do I need training or experience?

 
 

 

No, not at all. There will be a section leader on hand to support you on the day and you will receive a detailed briefing from the Sublime team in the lead up to the event. 

This will provide you with everything you need to know including:

Information about your role, contact details of your Race Maker Manager, instructions of where and when you need to arrive and Volunteer FAQs.
