Beyond Cotswold Triathlon (Sunday)

IF YOU MISSED THE SAFETY BRIEF IN THE PREVIOUS EMAIL HERE IT IS AGAIN.

GENERAL

Do not compete if you are feeling unwell.

No MP3 players or similar devices to be worn at any time in transition or during the event.

Do not use a mobile phone during the competition unless you are standing still.

(Selfie lovers that is you).

TRANSITION

Competitors and officials only.

Place only race kit at your racking point and move all other items back to your car.

UPDATE FOR TRANSITION

You can have a small bag or box in your transition area, if its to big you will be asked to remove it (Think two shoe boxes size)

SWIM

WETSUIT AND SWIM HAT ARE MANDATORY

If you get into difficulty during the swim, lay on your back and raise your arm in the air, a safety boat or paddle board will come to you.

If you fancy a rest, you have a wetsuit on, relax you will float. (A little).

The swim exit and transition are approx. 5 metres apart.

BIKE

Competitors must comply with Highway Code and Road Regulations.

MARSHALS WILL NOT DIRECT YOU OR HOLD TRAFFIC.

You should have an idea of the route, marshals are there for safety only, listen to them.

The roads are open to traffic, so take extra caution at junctions.

Always keep alert and cycle sensibly on the left.

Do not take corners wide.

Overtake only when you are sure the road ahead is clear, and it is safe to do so.

Keep 10m separation from the competitor in front unless overtaking.

When being overtaken allow the other to pass and establish a 10m gap.

No riding side by side.

Give way to oncoming traffic.

Returning competitors are required to give way to outgoing competitors close to transition.

RUN

The run is around the lake

1 Lap Super sprint

2 Laps Sprint

3 Laps Olympic

 

You need to count your own laps, be honest.

Please be respectful of other public path user's

REGISTRATION
Covid-19 requirement: maintain social distancing and minimise touch points
What you need to do: if there is a queue, maintain social distancing.

It is compulsory for you to wear a face covering.


BRIEFINGS
Covid-19 requirement: there will be no safety brief to maintain social distancing.
What you need to do: the safety briefing will be provided pre-event to avoid people gathering in groups on the day.

Make sure you read this. (Via email and on our website).

 

THERE WILL BE VARIOUS ANNOUNCMENTS VIA THE PA.


CHANGING AND BAG DROP
Covid-19 requirement: both will be removed to maintain social distancing and minimise touch points
What you need to do: arrive changed. Bring spare clothes to change into afterwards in a soft sided bag that you will be able to place at your racking location in transition or keep it in your car.


TRANSITION
Covid-19 requirement: maintain social distancing,
What you need to do: rack when allowed, follow the flow through transition, and minimise time at your racking location,

A face covering is mandatory in transition before the event.


START
Covid-19 requirement: You will be set off in an individual rolling start with space between you and the next person to maintain social distancing.
What you need to do: Be ready to start at 0900 (All routes).


SWIM, BIKE, RUN
Covid-19 requirement: maintain social distancing.
What you need to do: whilst taking part, maintain the following minimum distances between yourself and other participants Swim: 2 metres; Bike: 10 metres; Run: 2 metres. Even when at these distances, consider additional space based on the aerosol effect that sees the expelling of droplets and look to avoid being positioned directly behind the person in front of you. Overtaking is possible but social distancing of at least 2 metres should be maintained whilst doing so.

 

AID STATIONS
Covid-19 requirement: The aid station will be near transition for this event.
What you need to do: bring more snacks, gels and bottles of fluids to the event and carry them with you on the bike and run or keep them in transition.

 

FINISH / RECOVERY AREA
Covid-19 requirement: maintain social distancing and minimise touch points.t you What you need to do: remove your own timing chip and place it in the receptacle provided; move through the finish chute to avoid crowding, collect your medal which will be self service, only touch what you are taking


What you need to do: only sit or lie down where there is space.


POST FINISH
Covid-19 requirement: maintain social distancing and hygiene.
What you need to do: clean your hands thoroughly and collect your equipment from transition.

Put your face covering back on as soon as you can.


PRIZE GIVING
What you need to do: any prizes will be sent in the post to minimise groups gathering and touchpoints.

 

SPECTATORS

AT THE TIME OF THIS EVENT SPECTATORS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO ATTEND

 

What this means is anyone not competing must leave site after they have dropped you off, they cannot wait in the car park or hang around for you to finish.

COTSWOLD TRIATHLON (Sunday)

The Cotswolds designated as an Area of outstanding natural beauty in 1966, the Cotswolds covers 787 square miles and is the second largest protected landscape in England (second to the Lake District) and the largest AONB.

Located within the Cotswold Water Park, minutes from Cirencester, the Cotswold Country Park & Beach is our location for the Beyond Cotswold triathlon, with three routes to choose from, Olympic, Sprint and Super sprint (Plus team sprint).

THIS IS A COMPULSORY WETSUIT EVENT

AND PLEASE BRING A NICE SWIMHAT (PREFERABLY A NICE FLOWERY 1980 STYLE ONE)

 

SPECIFIC EVENT INFORMATION

REGISTRATION WILL BE FROM 0700 – 0855

THE OLYMPIC EVENT WILL START AT 0900

THE SPRINT EVENT WILL START AT 0902 (ish)

THE SUPER SPRINT EVENT WILL START AT 0904 (ish)

ROUTES AVAILABLE

SUPER SPRINT 200 m, 15 km, 3.4 km
The 200 m Lake swim will start in the water at North Lake and head out and around a Buoy before exiting the water 10 metres from Transition.
The 15 km bike is an almost flat fast tour around the Cotswolds.
The 3.4 km run is an off road, flat run away from traffic for the most part, and is a lap around both lakes. (1 Lap)

SPRINT 400 m, 28.3 km, 6,8 km

The 400 m Lake swim will start in the water at North Lake and head out and around a Couple of Buoy's before exiting the water 10 metres from Transition.
The 28.3 km bike is a relatively flat fast ride around some beautiful countryside.
The 6.8 km run to finish follows the footpath around two lakes is an off road, flat run away from traffic for the most part, and is a lap around both lakes. (2 laps)

TEAM SPRINT
The team sprint distances are same as above, the only difference is one person competes at each element of the Triathlon, you can have a team of two or three it’s up to you.

OLYMPIC 1500m, 45.5 km, 10.2 km

The 1500 m Lake swim will start in the water at North Lake and head out and around the whole circumference of the Lake before exiting the water 10 metres from Transition.

The 45.5 km bike is a relatively flat fast ride around the Cotswold area of outstanding natural beauty.
The 10.2 km run to finish follows the footpath around the two lakes and is an off road, flat run away from traffic for the most part, and is a lap around both lakes. (3 laps)

MORE INFORMATION

The swim will take place in the beautiful lake of the Cotswold country park and Beach, the first time a Triathlon has been held on this Lake within the park. The swim for all distances will be a water start with all swimmers starting at the same time. (Olympic, sprint and super sprint).

After completing the swim, you will prepare for the cycle stage around the Cotswolds taking in some fantastic scenery. The cycle course is flat with a couple of gentle sloping inclines, with a feed should you need it along the route. 

Once completed you will drop your bike at Transition for a spectator friendly run course around the lake. There will be various distances dependant on your event choice, but it is great for spectators. (No spectators due to covid-19)

There will also be Hydration available at the water station.

Registration will take place in the Cotswold country park and Beach cafe, and they will also be serving hot food and drinks should you require sustenance either before or after the event

Parking for competitors is included in the price of the event, and is also very close to transition, so everything needed on the day is all contained within a small area, this will, we hope to give the event a very friendly and welcoming vibe.
