CITY OF LONDON 1.5KM SWIM

Welcome to the CITY OF LONDON 1.5km (1500m) SWIM taking place on May 22nd 2016!

Set in the Victoria Dock with the stunning and iconic backdrop of Canary Wharf, our City of London Swim allows you to trial your technique and speeds in the same body of water used for the world’s most popular triathlon in the world.

This event is aimed at open water swimmers and participants of Standard Distance Triathlons looking to gain experience in the open water swimming element of triathlon.

This is a fantastic opportunity to practice swimming in Victoria Dock in a race environment which is the main dock and one  of London's 3 Royal Docks. It is great knowing the swim environment of any triathlon before you actually do it and also can give you a clear indication of your 1.5km swim times if you previously have not completed this distance.

Using the NOWCA timing system designed by leading industry professionals, every swimmer is provided with a NOWCA wristband which holds your personal medical information, emergency contact, and most importantly – gives access to your unique swimmer time.

Your 1.5km swim time will be not only be shown to you at the race end, but will also be emailed to you directly after the race, along with a number of swimmer-specific information about your swim.

Every swimmer will also be provided with an event swimming hat which must be worn during the race, and a finishers medal on completion of your swim.

Wetsuits are optional and tow floats are Mandatory without a wetsuit. Any non-wetsuit swimmer without a tow float will not be allowed to compete. Tow floats, wetsuits, and swim accessories will be available to hire or purchase on the day from our dedicated swim shop.

Swimmers will be set off in waves of 50 to 100 with a 5+ minute interval between each wave.

£5 from every race entry will be donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital on behalf of The Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation as they lead a dedicated team of athletes and triathletes at Ironman 70.3 Staffordshire as part of the ‘GTR100’.
