Bluebell Challenge

What is the Bluebell Challenge?

The Bluebell Challenge is a 6 hour running event at Hartshill Hayes Country Park. You can run as many laps within the 6 hour limit as you like. You might run for 1 hour or 6 it is up to you to decide on the day - we'll support your for every minute!

How far is the race?

You decide! The 2.8-mile loop at Hartshill Hayes Country Park (Nuneaton) means your race can be just under 5k or over 30miles! You decide how many laps you're going to do on the day within the 6-hour time limit. If you're looking to cover a marathon distance you'll need to complete 9 laps (+ a tiny one!) and a half marathon will be 5 laps (14.4 miles). Beware this is a hilly course, the marathon is over 3000ft of climbing!!

Entry info?

No entries on the day

There is an entry limit. Once the event gets down to the last places we'll endeavor to make people aware through social media and emails (join the mailing list here!). Once the event is full a waiting list will come into effect on this page.

You do have to pay to park (£2.50 at the time of writing). This money goes directly to the country parks, they are great spaces that do need money and this is their main revenue stream. That said, be a hero and car share, save money and the world!

Course description

In summary, it's hilly! Each lap has over 280ft of up... and down...! It's a great course, mainly through the mature woodland, there is a killer set of steps you get to run down and some stunning views across 4 counties at the start of each lap. There is a very short section of tarmac (around 20m) followed by some compact trail but the vast majority of the course is woodland trail. You can view photos from our previous events here (Longest Day Challenge) on our Flickr page

Are these cupless events?

Yes! It's relativly common in ultra running and trail running if you have't come across it before. It really is simple and impacts your race very little compared to the hundreds of years it takes for the plastic cup to decompose! Ultimatley we will not be supplying cups for drinks. We will have plenty of water, electrolyte, squash and coke but you need to  You can read details of our no-cup policy here. Essentially you need to bring a vessel with you for liquid - simple.

Where is it?

There is a map at the bottom of the page, use the post code CV10 0TH for Sat Navs. It is 10 minutes from Nuneaton and 20 minutes from Junction 3 of the M6. The closest train station is Nuneaton.

Why is it called the Bluebell Challenge?

Well, if we've timed it properly you'll know on race day! Harsthill Hayes has some beutiful bluebells so you should hopefully be runnign through them! The event was booked over a year before race day though so if its especially hot, cold, wet or dry we might miss the short bluebell season. It also means we can make a nice pretty medal!

Is there a GPX file?

Yes, on the map above.
