The Hoylake 10k run has a fine history on the Wirral and has been held annually for the past 24-years, with runners from near and far taking part to raise funds for the Wednesday Special Needs Club.
Now, in its 25th year, the Wednesday Special Needs Club have decided to pass this cherished baton over to the UTS Foundation, and it is our intention to keep this great event and proud tradition alive.
The UTS Run Club has now taken over the reins for the delivery of the 2018 event, with our very own Dr Col appointed as the Race Director, and so we are pleased to announce that the 25th consecutive year for the Hoylake 10k run will take place as originally planned. The UTS Run Club is a non-profit organization, and the funds raised from this year’s race will honour the already established tradition of supporting local good causes, and will be used for the development of both the Run Club and to help fund the UTS Foundation.
The UTS Foundation works to change the lives of the most vulnerable people in our community, supporting anyone who has had, or has, cancer; providing exercise therapy and rehabilitation for free, forever. The broader purpose of the UTS Foundation is to provide accessible and free structured coaching, health, and well-being sessions to a range of community groups from all across the Wirral. Also, targeting the Youth of our peninsula and helping them to gain confidence, fitness, and positive life-long health behaviours.
The 2018 Hoylake 10k will take place on Sunday 16th Sept at 11.00 am and will start on the promenade directly opposite the Community Centre.
The run starts on the North Parade promenade opposite The Parade Hoylake Community Centre. It proceeds along the sea front on the promenade (with majestic views), dropping onto the Meols embankment for a short distance, joining the rangers’ trail and through the gates, through the car park by Leasowe Lighthouse (drink station) and continuing back onto the embankment towards the Leasowe Castle Hotel. Then at the 5km marker, runners return back along the same route (with a change of view that is no less phenomenal than the one that carried you out).
The course is generally flat (perfect for claiming that treasured PB), with markers at every km and Radio-contact stewards positioned along the route for safety and guidance.
1. There will be Drinks Stations just before the mid-way point (Leasowe Lighthouse car park), and one at the Finish.
2. First Aid Cover – St Johns Ambulance Brigade.
3. Raynet radio-contact marshals at each km marker.
4. Changing Facilities and Security if required in the Community Centre.
5. Toilets will be available in the Centre.
6. Refreshments (Drinks/Tea/Coffee available in the Centre’s Coffee Bar).
7. Free Car Parking, if required, in the Community Centre (follow signs on the day).
For joint applications, please ensure you wear the runner number allocated to you- otherwise it can cause the results to get mixed up. At the finish, it helps the marshals considerably if the runner numbers are easily visible and are worn on your front.
So, when crossing the finish line, please ensure that the number is not obscured by any clothing and in windy weather try to hold the edges of the number panel flat.

We wholeheartedly encourage fund raising, and we are happy for you to take part and raise money for the charity of your choice.
However, those who take part and commit to raising funds for the UTS Foundation will receive a Special Edition Under Armour T-shirt to run in on the day and will be entered into a prize draw for a free six-month membership at the UTS Gym.
We will close entries as soon as we have 650 runners registered. However, late entries will be accepted on the day if the event limit of 650 has not been reached.

If your family or friends take photos of the next run, please send the best ones to our email address no later than a fortnight after the run. (However, we may not be able to use all the photos submitted because of the limited space on the website).
We will be running a competition for the best on-the-day photo, and the winner will receive free entry into the 2019 event, plus a £30 voucher to spend at a local restaurant (Ground, Hoylake).
