BEYOND VIENNA TO SALZBERG
Once fiercely contested because of its importance as a corridor between East and West, the Danube Valley today is gloriously and tranquil.
The glut of imposing fortresses and chateau's, as well as many monasteries and abbeys, is testimony to those ancient struggles and is concentrated to most dramatic effect in the Wachau region.
Along part of this winding, 40-kilometre stretch of the river, considered by many to be the most picturesque section of the Danube, you find wine-producing villages and distinctive, pastel-coloured houses clinging to hills clad with vineyards, forests and apricot orchards.
THE EXPERIENCE OF VIENNA TO SALZBERG
This ride is most definitely not about speed this experience is about cycling with friends (or new ones) and enjoying where we are, each day we try to arrive late afternoon, giving you plenty of time to explore our destinations.
From our hotels we will cycle each day toward our new destination along the Danube, this amazing river, which has bike paths along its edge, its mostly flat with an average over the whole ride of 700m per day.
With accommodation for the trip inclusive of breakfast, the only money you’ll need to spend will be at the numerous coffee stops on our routes, and an evening meal in our destinations. Or you can choose to sit in the sun and enjoy the local wine.
