Bike4Bart

The Andrew Simpson Foundation brings their annual cyclosportive 'Bike4Bart' to Portsmouth and takes on the Epic Meon Valley for 2019!

EVENT UPDATE: We’re keeping a very close eye on the weather forecast. If we need to cancel the event due to safety reason we will communicate this prior to the event via email, text and on social media. Based on the current forecast we will continue with the event as normal and will have a course report of the routes first thing on Saturday morning.

Held at the Andrew Simpson Watersports Centre based on Eastern Road, Portsmouth, Bike4Bart will take place on Saturday 27th April and aims to help increase participation in sport and promote health and wellbeing to all.

With FREE all-day Watersports sessions on offer and a Watersports Festival happening at the Start and Finish of the Charity ride, Bike4Bart combines sport, water activities and music: a welcomed addition to the events calendar for Portsmouth!

The event has already received backing from several new event partners including, Maverick Race, Let’s Do This, Eventrac, Precision Hydration, Evans Cycles and Frog Bikes. PKF Francis Clark have also pledged their support for the event for a second year.

Bike4Bart also helps to help raise awareness of the amazing work that is currently carried out by the Andrew Simpson Foundation around the world, and to raise funds, enabling the Foundation to continue delivering on its mission of improving the lives of young people through sailing.

Why is the ASF hosting a cycling event?

Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson was a keen cyclist like many within the British Sailing Team and sailing community and so it was decided that it would be a fitting tribute and would encourage participation in a variety of sports in addition to sailing. By hosting the event at one of the  not-for-profit Andrew Simpson Watersport Centre’s (ASWC), it can also be combined with opportunities for people to get out on the water and experience and enjoy other water sports that the Foundation has to offer.

Where will the money raised be spent?

All proceeds from the entry fee and any other profit raised on the day will be put back into the charity to continue and enhance the delivery of the ASF’s 5 key charitable activities.

“We’re so excited to be able to bring this incredible event to Portsmouth in 2019 and feel that the local community will not only benefit from being able to access the sportive but the funds raised will also enable young people from the community to be given access to a range of” Sir Ben Ainslie, founding trustee asf.
