Burnham Beeches Half Marathon and 10K - Sunday 15 August

The Burnham Beeches Half Marathon and 10K offers a choice of two distances, both on a mix of closed roads and hard-surfaced paths through the cool shade of the Burnham Beeches ancient woodland in South Bucks. It’s the perfect setting for a summer half marathon or 10K.

This year is the delayed 40th anniversary of the event and to celebrate we have a very special medal for all finishers. And to make it memorable, for the first time the course will be run in reverse offering a new twist to this very popular race.

We will be minimising the use of plastics and urge runners to please bring your own water bottles, which can be filled from taps in the race village before and after the event. There will be a medal only this year, no finisher shirt which enables us to keep costs down and again minimise the environmental impact of the event.

There will be two water stations on the course with water available from cups.

Runners must be at least 17 years old on the day of the race to enter the Half Marathon (15 years old for the 10k). The races are unsuitable for wheelchairs and no runners may be accompanied by a cyclist, pushchair or dog.  The usual EA race rules apply and runners are only recommended to wear approved (bone conducting) headphones while running. There will be a cut-off time of 3 hours for the Half Marathon after which time any runner still on the course will be advised that they continue on their own at their own risk.

We will advise if there needs to be any Covid related restrictions in place. One change from previous years is that unfortunately we will not be able to provide access to the school swimming pool this year.

We are hopeful that the event will be able to go ahead, but if we need to cancel the event the intention is to carry places forward to a 2022 event. The entry fee is non-refundable.

RUNNER’S WORLD REVIEWS – THANKS FOR THE GREAT FEEDBACK!

“I have previously taken part in the Half Marathon at Burnham Beeches. This was my first time at running the 10Kms – great – would definitely do it again. Challenging (who put those hills in the way !!!) but very enjoyable, friendly event. :-)”

“My first ever big organised event and I really enjoyed it! Usually run on my own or with one or two work colleagues, so it was a real buzz to set off with hundreds of other runners. Lovely course through the woods, plenty of shade – ideal for August – a few gentle hills but nothing too challenging, very well organised and marshalled. Loads of encouragement to keep you going! If I ever step from 10k to HM I’d like to do it here.”

“Excellent race, beautiful scenery, great organisation. Will definitely do it again.”

“Scenic 2 lap course (one lap for the 10k), lots of excellent marshalls and spectators, plenty of shade and water stops to see off the summer heat. Mostly on road with some easy trail paths… first lap is full of lovely undulating hills, which feel like steep mountains by the second lap! S
