Title: Should have been easy - but ouch!
So this was my first 10km running in a 'race like' environment. Although it wasn't a race, running amongst other people you naturally compare yourself to the progression of others. I was slow, very slow, finishing in 1 hour 12 minute, I was lapped by runners twice on the 3 lap course. I ran I walked I ran I walked and although demoralised buy the ever growing number of people in front of me and ever shrinking number of people behind me, I was motivated at every corner by the amazing team of marshals, even joking with a couple of them that I'd made them late for their lunch! At the finish the team recognised that the achievement I had made was huge despite my slow time, and that a slow 10km was still a 10km! I received my FIRST EVER running medal which put a huge smile on my deflated expression as well as commemorative tshirt. This as well as the marshals support made the hour of running all worth while! Thank you for the experience and support! I'll be back!
