Great way to round off the season
Really enjoyed the event. Only one thing I would have prefered would be to cut out the busy main road return to Marizion..Riding in the quiet lanes up to that point was far more enjoyable...and safer.
Love this ride, even though it was wet and windy!
Hard ride with lots of hills. Route clearly marked. Shame about the rain and strong wind but can't do much about that.
Enjoyed the ride, shame about the weather
Great route, well organised, v friendly just shame about the weather!
The car parking attendants were rude, bad tempered and very officious!
Hard to comment on the atmosphere simply because the weather was dreadful, but Stewart and his crew were upbeat and v helpful
Did not attend due to weather
I did not attend the event due to the weather! However the advice from the organisers was very thorough and options presented in a clear and considered manner. The advice was timely allowing me to make the right decision for me - thank you.
I will try again next year - it sounded like a fabulous event.
Hi Stewart did this event five years ago pull out of todays because of bad weather ,hope to do it with a few mates later on cheers Haydn
Great day shame about the weather
Stayed in St Just , Archavon Studio ,would do it all again ,everyone we met was friendly and helpful, our host at the studio, stewards at event, competitors.
Very wet day but thoroughly enjoyed it.
Would have preferred not to have had the last 1 mile on the sandy path. So if the route could have been moved on to the road that would have been better.
Well organised event, I heard many complements for the feed stations and the arrangements that had been made.
Nice touch to arrange for the wind and rain either side of two nice days! Thats Cornwall! Will definitely have another go Stewart - well done!
PS - can you get your cooks to make me some quiches as well please?
Still no results half a week later
Friendly and supportive organisation, great camaraderie, fantastic history and scenery - Cycling Utopia.
Just so pleased to have fulfilled this dream. Thank you.
Wet and windy won hundred
Last year I rode the LE 100 for the first time TBH the weather made the event for Me.
This year a totally different day
But I would like to congratulate you as the organisation
Course signage and feed stations were 100% improvement from last year.
My only couple of criticisms were
Start info you need a PA or pen the riders around the safety speakers.
Route finish, I sort of get avoiding Penzance town centre but the track along the beach wasn't really up to the job.
may I suggest taking the turning left at Newlyn and around the back of the town.
Please don't see this as a negative email. You have a great sportive and will be entering again next year
All the best
Well signposted, shame about the weather, but still enjoyed it
Lovely ride spoilt by the weather, but just makes it more of a challenge
Am local to landsend and ride there regular, you may have reasons for changing le100 to a Saturday but road trafic is much quieter on Sundays. Although coast path route at finish may be good when dry in the wet it left both myself and bike covered in sand and grit.
A challenging ride for all abilities
The route (I did the medium 100k) was well signposted. Would have liked marshalls in certain parts to warn of oncoming vehicles (the hairpin partway up the hill at Treen especially) and to reassure newbies. (Why not engage with local cycle clubs? They'd be happy to help I'm sure) Didn't like the last untimed stretch on the cycle path in Penzance, which was sandy and not good for road bikes. The rear mech and other kit took a lot of cleaning to shift all the sand. I would definitely do this one again, although the vile headwinds on the coast road made the challenge even tougher. I was so proud of myself for finishing it! The marquee at the finish was a haven out of the biting wind and rain, thank you so much for that! Vile weather (not your fault!) and hard riding aside, I would recommend this Sportive to anyone.
couldn't rate scenery as weather so bad that virtually no sea views until last 5 miles. It was brutal but I enjoyed it and will definatley do it next year.
The start was a little disappointing as no PA system running so couldn't really hear what was being said about route or safety brief.
Brilliant sportive; well organised, great course, phenomenal food stops and a super friendly team.
Thank you all for your efforts, we had a brilliant time on the LE100 Extreme, which lived up to it's name in both route and weather! Will be back next year to tackle it again. Whilst the stunning Cornish views were all but removed by a thick fog and harsh rain/wind all day, it gave the ride an even more challenging edge which was really enjoyable. It felt like a real achievement finishing! The staff were all extremely friendly, and the food stops were miles above expectations, with quiche, pies, sweet treats, hot and cols drinks, energy supplements - we were like kids at Christmas. See you again!
Please mark the feed stations better on the road
Really enjoyed the ride. Well organised. Better route than previous years. Really good feed stations. Only criticism was having the timing end away from the finish area, which stopped people cheering and taking photos. Otherwise an awesome event.
Weather was rubbish (not your fault)!
Good route with some testing climbs
Well signed route
Great! Better weather next time pleez
Massive improvement on Tempus
Well done Stewart and team. Very glad you have taken this event over.
You need to order better weather though.
I thought this avent was mega good today, the weather was apaulling.
The feed stations and the lovely staff were over and above my expectations, it was great to have a Bronze medal and a goody bag I did it four years ago it was not in the same class as it is now well done!
The weather gods were unkind
Fantastic event and the food stops were full of yumminess
Absolutely excellent, thanks
Great food at the stops along the way, but would have been nice some at the end.
A very well organised event, amazing feed stations, friendly event team
The signpost at Land's End was a lovely novelty touch, Thanks for a fantastic event, I am looking forward to doing this again next year.
Punchy climbs excellent event I will be back
Curry Quiche was a hit recipe please
Could you arrange for ⛅ next year as couldn't see the scenery but quite enjoyed the wind and rain, well organized event when is registration open for 2018
Spoilt by the weather
Great feed stations at exactly the right places. Tough little course with no discernible large hills, just lumpy. Rain, wind and fog spoilt the view and a quick time but scenery is stunning here if the weather is right.
As a result the neutralised zone cyclepath ensured your bike got absolutely dirty with sand.
Being part of a 3 sportive challenge for an extra reward a great idea.
Hope to return next year with better weather
Really well organised with fantastic food and drink stops.
Great event. Shame it was marred by the awful weather!!
Well run, great feed stations
You can’t control the weather
A thoroughly enjoyable day
I was assured that this part of Cornwall has spectacular scenery, because of the horrendous conditions, I never actually got to see it!
It would've been spectacular if the weather wasn't so foul..
I've been coming to Cornwall decades . It has an abundance of breath taking views but you couldn't see a damn thing today!
Even the lousy weather didn’t dampen spirits. It just made the challenge that much greater.
Every turn and junction was well signed, and having the gold, silver, bronze award system in place made this event worth making the extra effort. Just a shame the wind and rain spoilt the spectacular views. All being well I will be back again next year. Thank you eventrac.
Can't comment on scenery (too misty/ rainy). Good event
professionally organised. Very good variety of food.
The weather was obviously out of your control!
Despite the horrible weather a fun ride and the 45 miler is just a really nice distance to do.
Signage was excellent, food stops were really good. would love to do it again next year and hope for better weather.
New course is good, would have been better if the sun had shone! The diversion into the car park in PZ took me by surprise and the cycle path along the front was messy but preferable to getting mixed up with the traffic in PZ. Enjoyed the day, hopefully ride it again next year! Thanks!
A great atmosphere and well run sportive; shame about the weather.
Question 2 answered based on previous knowledge as unfortunately today we couldn't see the stunning Cornish scenery.
Thanks to all who organised and ran this event.
Raining and windy - still loved it - that's gotta be good
Raining, misty & windy....loved every bit of it! Great medals to remeber the ride too!
Misty, wet, windy but very well organised
very well organised !
Great food at feed stops, well signed out route. Good organisation and facilities.
Great ride, despite the weather. Everything was very smoothly run
New route round back of St Ives was a much better cycle although missed a bit of scenery - overall better. Food stops were great and at the right distances. Was a bit worried about is taking place on Saturday but it was fine. Muddy ride past Penzance on bike trail might have annoyed a few but not me. Medal times seems a bit easy perhaps and maybe should be harder to get a gold? All in all a great event that I will do again.
