Gato Sports Head Torch 10K - Race 2

Rugby, Warwickshire

Use the post code CV22 5QQ for Sat Navs. Parking (free!!) is at St Andrews Rugby Club on the edge of Rugby 12 minutes from Junction 18 of the M1 and Junction 1 of the M6. The closest train station is Rugby.

Wont it be dark?

Yes... That it sort of the point! You must have a headtorch to run (we have some great Gato Sports ones for sale from our sponsors!). If you want to wear fairy lights, glow sticks or paint yourself in fluorescent paint, fell free. Just make sure you have something to light the way. It'll be dark, as in pitch black you will not be allowed to race without a headtorch. We wont be floodlighting the route..! If you've never run at night it is brilliant - maybe have a go beforehand but you don't need to necessarily.

How far is the race?

10k! This might seem a bit pointless to mention given the name but this is different to a normal Big Bear Event. You'll get the same love a medal and some goodies but you can't run all night!

Gato Sports?

They are our event partners. They've kindly donated some excellent prizes for our male and female first place finishers. They are a clothing company that specialise in night time running with lots of excellent reflective and lit accessories. We have a very small selection for sale in our merchandise store but if you see anything you like at https://www.gatosports.com/en/ we can order other bits in too.

Entry information?

No entries on the day

There is a strict entry limit. Once the event gets down to the last places we'll endeavor to make people aware through social media and via the mailing list. Once the event is full a waiting list will be created. This will be available through the normal entry site.

Parking is free! There is a large parking area in front of St Andrews Rugby Club. It is a public car park but unless someone has a glow in the dark dog there wont be people there. If the car park is full there is ample street parking on Percival Road ad other local roads.

Course description

The course is a disused railway. It has recently had £10 000's spent on resurfacing the majority of it. It is crushed stone and and allows for good running with a headtorch. There shouldn't be tree stumps or hidden objects lurking.

Is this a cupless event?

Yes. Please read our page on cupless events if you haven't experienced it before. It's obviously good for the environment to reduce plastic use and general waste. Yes, you wont break a world record having to stop to fill a bottle of water or carry a hydration pack but over a marathon distance it would probably add less than a minute to your time. We will have water, isotonic drinks, tea and coffee and real Coca Cola for you, but to be clear - we wont supply disposable cups for drinks. If you'd like to purchase a foldable cup we have them for sale when you purchase your ticket, you can buy one from our merchandise store or you can buy one on the day.
