The Jubilee Relay - Moel Famau

Leg 1 Runner - Ascent only

Leg 2 Runner - Descent only

Electronic timing with RaceTek gives Up, Down and Overall splits.

The race HQ and the start/finish point of the race is the Golden Lion pub Llangynhafal, where there is camping available and B&B accommodation also, in this lovely pub which has won CAMRA awards in the past.

This event is completed in teams of 2. It's very simple in theory - 1 runner runs up to the summit of Moel Famau, then hands over the timing band to their teammate who descends as quickly as possible to the finish! The initial section through the fields is marked and MUST be followed, however after a few hundred metres and once out onto the open hillside, YOU choose your route! For descending runners, it's obviously the other way around - descend via whichever route you want, until the final approach to the finish where you pick up the marked route through the finishing fields.

We recommend that Leg 2 runners are to be in position no later than 7.30pm. It is up to Leg 2 runners themselves to get to the summit promptly, in time for their run, and Leg 1 runners off of the summit safely after their run. The summit is a walk of about 50-60 minutes up and a jog taking about 20-30 minutes down, from the HQ. The marshals at the summit will guide Leg 2 runners to the correct area for changeover. Leg 1 runners will approach the Jubilee Tower and go through the funnel on the South side of it, where a marshal will dib the timing band, then runners will run around the Tower in an anti-clockwise direction, before handing over to their teammate, waiting on the North side of the tower, to start their descent.

Upon finishing, the results will be available promptly, including overall times, ascent time and descent time splits.

Prizes will be awarded in the post race presentation at the HQ.
