Chocks Away for the 10th Spitfire 10k!

Event Overview:
The Spitfire 10K returns to the RAF Museum Midlands this summer and this year we're celebrating the 10th anniversary!
You will be able to run for a Battle of Britain pilot and your support of this event enables the RAF Museum, a registered charity (Charity Number 1197541), to tell the inspiring stories of RAF personnel, just like The Few - the courageous Battle of Britain Pilots and Crew who fought in the skies above Britain in 1940 and the continuing story of the RAF.   

Pledge to raise valuable funds...
Help us to honour those who defended our skies during the Battle of Britain by fundraising for the RAF Museum and pledging to raise £100. Once you hit your pledge you will receive your FREE technical t-shirt and a goody bag. If you select this fundraising option whilst booking your entry, then you do not need to purchase your t-shirt in advance. As long as you hit your pledge, you will be able to collect your t-shirt from the fundraising stand on the day. Your ticket entry counts towards the pledge and so you will have then have until race-day to raise the remaining £75 of your pledge.

Roll of Honour Cards...
Our Roll of Honour cards are one of the most popular elements of the race. They enable you to carry the name of a Battle of Britain Pilot with you on your run. You will receive your Roll of Honour card in your race pack.  Whether you talk about your pilot with your family and friends or share their stories on social media – we want you to get involved and keep their story alive!

Spitfire 10K technical t-shirts
Spitfire 10K technical t-shirts for the Spitfire 10K at the RAF Museum Midlands are available to purchase until the 4th August through the merchandise tab above. The deadline for ordering a race t-shirt will be 04 August 2024. All Spitfire 10k t-shirts will be home delivered only and not available to purchase on the day. Don't miss out - secure yours before 04 August 2024!

T-shirts are £19.50 incl. postage and packing. 
Please note there will be no on the day sales of t-shirts. 

Sustainibility
Ensuring the Spitfire 10K is sustainable as possible is important to the RAF Museum and Nice Work. Our medals will be made out of wood, and created in the UK, with our unique aviation inspired designs continuing. The t-shirts will be printed in the UK. We have also been working hard to reduce the amount of waste created by the race, which is why we ask that you purchase your technical t-shirts online in advance.

Course Details
We will be using the same route as 2023 which enjoyed it's debut last year and enabled runners to spend more time on the airfield at RAF Cosford than ever before. You will start the race with a loop of the RAF Museum Midlands site, passing by iconic aircraft including the VC10, Hercules and Britannia, before heading onto the airfield at RAF Cosford. It’s a unique opportunity to run alongside the wartime hangars, the air traffic control tower and sprint down the runway!
Please note that there will be a two hour cut-off for this event.

Once you cross the finish line you will receive the highly coveted 10th Spitfire 10K celebration race medal. It will be a sustainable wooden medal which will feature a unique aircraft inspired design.

An important note
Please note that, due to this event taking place on a working base, if you have purchased an entry and are unable to attend on race-day, we are unable to offer deferrals to the following year's event.

Race HQ: RAF Museum Midlands, Shifnal, Shropshire, TF11 8UP

By Car:
The Race Headquarters will be in the 'Race Zone' by Hangar One, next to the iconic Hercules. It will be your one stop shop for race check-in, and bag drop off. The start/finish area will also be located in this area. There is car parking available on site which will clearly be signposted upon arrival.

Normal parking charges apply on the museum grounds. There will be a restriction on vehicle movement on site between 08:45am and 11:00 am. If you need to move your vehicle during this time please use the Park and Ride car park, and park on the offsite car park. 

By Train:
A free park and ride system will operate from Cosford train station car park
