A brand new event, on a never before run course, deep in Whiteley Village, to the north east of the village.
We are running this event to provide some support for the Alex Ward Foundation.
The Alex Wardle Foundation Fund was set up in memory of Alex Wardle, who passed away in March 2016 from Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS). Every week in the UK, at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions https://thealexwardlefoundation.org
SADS is caused by a disturbance in the heart’s rhythm, of which there are many causes, despite the person not having any physical heart disease. Alex was a medical student, working in research, and we want to continue his legacy by helping to further understand SADS and prevent deaths from the condition. The charity was set up by Alex’s family and close friends with this goal in mind.
Every finisher will get a bespoke medal, as well as a freshly cooked hot bacon roll on the finish line (vegetarian option available).
We are negotiating with a local company regarding using their car park, but Whiteley Shopping Centre is FREE for the first 4 hours.
At present we are planning for the 5k and 10k to start separately but this may change depending on availability of marshalls.
