Vitality Big Half Finish Baggage Team - Finish Baggage Collection Point 4 (no lorries this year)

Please sign up to volunteer

We’ve compiled a list of the questions that volunteers have asked us the most about The Vitality Big Half 2021. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list, and we will be in touch with more details in the run-up to the event.

When is the deadline for registering as a volunteer?
We will ask all volunteer groups to confirm the volunteers working on the day by 16th July.

Is the route changing for 2021?
At the present time the route will follow roughly the same course as in previous years.

Will the format of the event be different due to Covid-19 restrictions?
To minimise the number of people waiting around before the event runners will be set off via a rolling start basis. There will also be no festival at the Finish to reduce the number of touchpoints and to encourage a smooth and continuous flow of people away from the Finish.

Will there be any restrictions on who can volunteer for the event?
We will not enforce any restrictions on who can volunteer with us, but we ask that teams be mindful of the current situation and lockdown regulations. Anyone who feels like they are at any risk from attending should not volunteer. We will have many events in the future where there will be more opportunities to get involved!

Are you providing volunteers with PPE?
We will provide PPE for all volunteers at The Vitality Big Half. Sanitising hand gel will also be available. Everyone working at the event will have to wear a mask at all times. We will encourage social distancing at all times – this will be fully explained through the participant communications and the Covid-19 declaration for all those working at the event.

Do I need to fill in a Covid-19 form or have my temperature checked?
All volunteers will need to complete a Covid-19 declaration in advance of attending the event on Rosterfy. On Event Day we will ask the volunteer team leader to check that no one on their team is feeling unwell or has any Covid-19 symptoms. We will also provide a temperature-checking device so the volunteer team leader can check everyone’s temperature at the start of the day.

Will runners be able to leave baggage at the event?
At the present time we are considering a few options for how we deliver the runner baggage operation; this is to be confirmed and we will let volunteer groups with baggage roles know our plans in due course. The additional consideration stems from us wanting to ensure the baggage operation is as Covid-19 safe as possible.
