How far is the race?
You decide! The 2.88-mile loop at Hartshill Hayes Country Park (Nr. Nuneaton) means your race can be just under 5k or over 30 miles! You decide how many laps you're going to do on the day within the 6-hour time limit. If you're looking to cover a marathon distance you'll need to complete 9 laps (+a tiny one) and a half marathon will be 4 laps + a small one. Beware this is a hilly course, the marathon is over 3000ft of climbing!! The forest should be awash with bluebells but the hills will be just as steep and depending on the winter it may well be very muddy underfoot.
No entries on the day
There is an entry limit. Once the event gets down to the last places we'll endeavor to make people aware through social media and emails (join the mailing list here!). Once the event is full you will be able to join the waiting list on this page.
You do have to pay to park (£2.50 at the time of writing). This money goes directly to the country parks, they are great spaces that do need money and this is their main revenue stream. That said, be a hero and car share, save money and the world!
In summary, it's hilly! Really hilly. That isn't to sound tough or macho - it's a numerical fact! Each lap has over 280ft of up... and down...! It's a great course, mainly through the mature woodland, there is a killer set of steps you get to run down and some stunning views across countryside at the start of each lap. This is a truly rewarding course and the blanket of bluebells (that should be there if nature plays ball!) will really add to the event. There is a very short section of tarmac (around 20m) followed by some compact trail but the vast majority of the course is woodland trail.
