Ryde Harriers host a series of three cross-country races, with all races run over the same course, starting & finishing at Smallbrook Stadium, Ryde, PO33 2DQ (For more details see)

Race 1: Sun 21st Jan 2024 - Ryde Harriers Championship
Race entry is the FREE to members of Ryde Harriers as it is our club championship, and only members of Ryde Harriers qualify for prizes.
Race entry for guests is £7 (cash only).
Open invitation to all runners, but will not qualify for prizes.

Race 2: Sun 11th Feb 2024 - Isle of Wight Championship
Race entry for all runners is £7 (cash only).
All runners qualify for prizes.

Race 3: Sun 18th Feb 2024 - Arthur Biggs Handicap
Race entry for all runners is £7 (cash only).
Entrants MUST have competed & finished at least one of races 1 & 2 in the series to be able to run. Your best finish time for races 1 & 2 is used to calculate your handicap start time for race 3.
Runners will have individual start times, based on your handicap; it is your responsibility to be at the start line in time for your start. Start times will be available at registration.

Pre-Entry List:
To minimise the time taken to process entries on race day, if you hope to run in any of the races, please enter your details in the pre-entry list event (£0), so a list of runners & clubs can be generated.
Please only use the name of your first claim club, which will be used for the teams.
You can still enter on the day even if you are not on the pre-entry list, it just speeds up registration.
Race entry is still on the day entry only (£7 cash only).

All race entries are on the day (Cash only), please bring the correct change if you can.
Entry limit: 300
Minimum age for entry is 15 years. This is due to sections of open road and road crossings on the route.
Numbers will be issued at Registration on Race Day.
Registration is open from 10:00, Smallbrook Stadium top floor.
All races start at 11:00 prompt.

Cross-country spikes can be used at the runner's discretion, otherwise trail/fell shoes are definitely recommended. However, be aware that there is a 270m section of road, with only a narrow verge, near the start and the finish. As well as two road crossings, all of which will NOT be carpeted.
Runners are permitted to use the track to warmup, but please use the access gate by the stands if the vehicle gate is not open.
The course will be marked, with a combination of arrows and tape. Checking for traffic is YOUR responsibility at the road crossings. Please keep to the edges of fields, where the course is marked so, to avoid trampling on farmers' crops. Please close all gates that were closed when you encounter them.

Changing and showering facilities are available at the venue, ground floor, along with refreshments from the bar. Please leave muddy shoes outside.
Limited free Parking at the venue, car share if you can.

Safety Note:
For safety reasons, the use of in-ear (or over ear) headphones is NOT permitted. In accordance with England athletics guidelines, bone conducting headphones are allowed.
For safety reasons, runners are NOT permitted to run with dogs.

Travel:
Smallbrook Stadium, is 3km (1.8 Miles) from Ryde Esplanade.
The best transport method to Ryde from Portsmouth is via the 3.15pm and 4.15pm Wightlink Portsmouth/Ryde Catamaran sailings.

The most direct route walking takes 45 minutes, and is: Union Street, High Street, Swanmore Road, then turn left onto Ashey Road and onto Smallbrook Stadium.
Concessionary rate travel on Ferries may be offered by Wightlink, details will be provided on entry.

Awards:
FU17, FU20, Senior Women and 10 year vet categories. Teams of 3.
MU17, MU20, Senior Men and 10 year vet categories. Teams of 3.
Note: Teams are only contested over the 10km course.

Victor Ludorum and Victrix Ludorum trophy's are awarded to the series champions, the Ryde Harrier with the best positions in all three races.

Requests to amend results will be considered up to 3 days after the race. Requests to change an entry team name, must be made before the day of the race.

The Course:

All U20, senior & vet categories (Men and Women) will run the same 10km course.
All U17 (male & female) will run a 6.5km course, the maximum set out for U17's in the UKA rules, with a turnaround point by the duck pond on Harding Shute.
