A lot of potential to become something big

Too few bouys.
Everything was running late, having to wait for over 30minin the cold.
Changing areas not fit for purpose.
Some fruit and hot beverages would have been nice after the race.

Good event

I understand it was the first year, however it was a bit disorganised. We didn't receive much correspondence before. I would've liked something with a count down on it every so often because I had to go back and check I'd actually registered when I hadn't heard anything for so long. There also needed to be more and bigger bouys to site it was impossible and the only reason we could site was following the tow floats of the people ahead. All round good event, but just needs fine tuning.

Great new race, a few teething problems but hope it's back in 2017

Overall awesome to have a new 10k swim in central London. Great venue and good time of year (and reasonable start time on the day!). Organisers did very well to get the event off the ground, and also attract quite a big field for first event. I hope it's back next year and continues to grow. Just a few suggestions for next time:

- there were a few organisational problems on the day. For a long distance endurance event, it's quite important that the event starts on time, especially because of nutrition plans etc. Starting 30min late was a bit much, and seemed avoidable if briefings (kayakers and swimmers) were done earlier. But will put this down to it being the first event.
- course markings were a bit sparse. It would be better either to get everyone just to follow next to the line of the docks, or otherwise need more sighting buoys. Requiring swimmers to follow a course but not really being able to see where the next buoy is, was kind of worst of both options.
- it would be great to grow the event to have a full size elite field. It was good to see one or two elite swimmers this time, but could maybe use prize money/free entries to encourage a deeper elite field next time. This usually has a useful side-effect of encouraging more higher standard amateurs as well (e.g. Castle Series triathlon).
- the finish chute was confusing. It doesnt make much sense to have a 'finish' banner if the finish times are taken 25m later at the end of the chute. Need to either move the finish banner to where the times are taken, or make this very clear in the race briefing.

These are just a few suggestions for how to make things even better. Overall great event and hope it continues. Thanks!

tough swim

Just a little disappointing that it started so late. (appreciate was the first event). Could do with some better markings on route
