Excellent swim with challenging sections
Really fantastic to have a venue for a 10km swim in central London. Great location to swim and windy weather provided a challenging return swim.
Great fun
were slow to get people in the water which left those is just cossies colder, think people dont mind a delayed start if they are told why and a realistic time. Was my first long distance swim and I enjoyed. Route back was confusing a little, some people keeping large red bouys on their right, others not. I still loved it.
Nice swim for a big city, good waterqualitywell organised
Lovely organisers, friendly and encouraging.
The event was billed as "iconic", "vibrant", "historic" but actually the scenery was really really dull.
Registration opened late, the briefing was late, the race started late, all for no apparent reason. A bit annoying when you've got up at 4am to ensure you arrive on time!
Friendly, well run event in an amazing location
Only thing I would say, and I did say it to the girls on the day, is that there needed to be more sighting buoys and more direction for the right hand turn at the end of the long straight, we swam straight past it! Other than that, fantastic day and will def be back next year. Thank you.
Be better next year
NOWCA Safety Wristband is of no further use to me. Can I trade it back in? I noticed that the pack it came in pictured a "Temporary user" green version. This might be a better idea for this event, as not everyone has a NOWCA lake nearby.
If start is 9, start at 9. As a skins swimmer, probably also the case for wetsuit wears, I was getting very cold.
Changing and toilet facilities were adequate, just.
Communication is key and I felt that swimmers were not being kept aware of exactly what was going on.
Fantastic venue. Lovely friendly people. Who'd have thought a dock could be so rough in places?
Thank You
This event will be huge!
Brilliant location. Super friendly atmosphere. Challenging swim but well broken up into measurable pieces. Fabulous water. Will most definitely swim this one again.
Badly organised start; amazing support from people on the feed stations, nice medal
An unforgettable unique swim!
It was an incredible swim, in an amazing setting.. So much to see while swimming along. So it didn't feel endless. I suppose it's hard to get an atmosphere when people came from all over uk.. In my case Ireland. Hopefully more Irish swimmers next year.. I've a feeling once this swim becomes an annual event, it will be difficult to get a place on it. I feel proud to be part of the 1st inaugural dock2dock 10k swim. Thank you London docks ows.. You've got a fabulous safe long distance aminity. Water quality was excellent for a huge city. Thank you.
Long, tough but worth it!
Super friendly volunteers.
Perhaps could have done with a few more buoys to show the route.
fantastic
Good first go
good going for the first time running the event, fantastic to swim further than the usual loops
Iconic swim in London docklands
Small detail but 2 extra toilets would of kept the queue down.
If registration opens at 6.30am the food tent should be ready to have hot water for coffee at 7.15!
If race start is 9am it should start at 9am, not 9.30am, especially when you arrive to register at 7am. It's a long time to wait around.
Great race which I thoroughly enjoyed! Thank you to everyone for your support and encouragement!
Slightly irregular updates beforehand.......it would have been useful to know the nutrition before the day..... On the day, great organisation and everything went well.....thank you all.....
Late to start. Lack of direction bouys. Poor visibility of feed stations. You could tell it was there first event.
I entered the event because it was local. Not a multiple loop. Not many 10km swim in/or near london can provided this. Having swam here during the year i was expecting the facilities to be basic but I was disappointed by the fact that the event started very late. That the pre race briefing was confusing, long and not very upbeat.
The race markers were all but useless. I just blindly followed the orange tow floats in front. Feed stations were also hard to stop. I actual swan past one and had to swim back to obtain a drink. All in all poorly run event but maybe i should have guessed this from the lack of information on the website and the set up during my paid for swims. That said I had a great swim and Im please to have completed my first 10KM swim and be able to be home of mid afternoon. :)
So much fun and very well organized and executed!
Thanks guys, will be back next year for sure!
Enjoyable 10k swim
Started 30 minutes late and course could have been marked out more clearly. Otherwise, a good event.
Lovely fun feeling event!
Not enough toilets and maybe needed more buoys out there as it was hard to keep to the course. But I liked the atmosphere and loved the medal.
Special place to do a 10k swim and and has great potential.
I appreciate safety is paramount importance but the delay in starting was not good. Many swimmers were feeling the chill which is not good especially on a long swim like this.
I think there should have been more buoys for spotting and many swimmers in my group were far right on the way back.
The funnel at the end was not a funnel but a tiny corridor which was difficult to spot More importantly I injured my knee on something sticking out of the dock. This is too narrow for the end of a swim.
The staff were very friendly and encouraging to all.
The briefing was difficult to hear but thats partly down to my ears.
Safety craft seemed good apart from one section on the way back out of the airport dock where I spotted nobody. Maybe me and an unfair comment.
Overall I enjoyed the event, found it challenging for my first 10k. I would be interested in the age breakdown of the swimmers age groups. Cant believe the times on the leaders.
Thanks.
Absolutely loved it. Very tough though as water was so choppy. Well organised and staff so helpful. thank you for a great experience.
I didn't see the right turn buoy and carried on straight down, so had a RIB come over to direct me. Found the buoys hard to see as so far apart so perhaps just a couple more buoys, but otherwise it really was a brilliantly organised event which I loved. thank you to all who helped put the day on.
