Essex AA and Suffolk AA County Road Relays

Colchester Sports Park, Northern Gateway, Cuckoo Farm Way, Colchester CO4 5YX

The 2024 road relays will be held at the Northern Gateway, Colchester on Sunday 7th April 2024.

For 2024 we will have U13, U15, U17, Open, V40, V50 and V60 age category races.

The event will be chip timed, enabling faster, more accurate results to be available on the day

All members of a relay team must be EA registered for that team to count in the Essex champs. If any member of a relay is not EA registered then that team is a non-scoring team and you should enter them as such.

Runners are not encouraged to run in more than one team but we recognise this may be necessary where there are late drop-outs and the club wishes to complete a team. This is permitted but runners can only run in the Essex champs once and so team managers should declare before the race which team is in the county champs and which is not. Failure to make the declaration risks both teams being removed from the championships.

As last year, Essex AA and Suffolk AA have collaborated to run a combined event, bringing the best athletes from each County to race competively in their respective championships. Note that Suffolk will be collecting their entries separately so the entry details which follow on this page are specific to Essex team captains, but the requirements will apply equally in the Suffolk entry process.

IMPORTANT: There will not be a need to submit specific team declarations before the event.

However, in order to comply with EA regulations Team Captains are required to submit a list of names, EA Numbers and Dates of Birth of runners who could be part of their teams before race day so that county qualification can be checked. These must be submitted to  essexathleticaasec@aol.com within 72 hours of entering on-line.

As last year, Team Captains will be required to confirm members and running order of each team via a supplied link to a Google doc after the event. This must be completed within 48 hours of the event.

The event schedule will be as follows:

Race 1:  Junior Girls - 9:30am

Race 2: Junior Boys - 10:15am

Race 3: Women - 10:50am

Race 4: Vet Men - 12:15pm

Race 5: Open Men: 1:30pm
