Are E Bikes allowed to be ridden at The Hell of The North Cotswolds?

Accepted Answer

Yes they are 
E Bikes - Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles (EAPCs) complying with the EAPC Regulations 1983 SI 1983/1168 ARE PERMITTED if they meet the following requirements - a) The bike must have pedals that can be used to propel it b) The electric motor should not be able to propel the bike when it is travelling more than 25kph/15.5mph c) The motor should not have a maximum power output of more than 250 watts. It must display one item from each of the following i) The power output or manufacturer of the of the motor ii) The battery’s voltage or maximum speed of the bike. NB any form of e-bike that does not comply with the above (e.g. ones with a “twist & go” throttle) are not permitted.

Is the Hell of the North Cotswolds a Race?

No HONC is not a race. It  is an endurance challenge that is ridden at the participants own pace.  The main point of HONC is to challenge yourself and enjoy riding in the cotswolds

Question 3

Can Riders under the age of 18 ride alone?

Accepted Answer

Riders under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the ride.  Riders 16-18 may ride alone as long as they follow the event rules and highway code.  Parents will have given consent to this upon entry.

Question 4

What is on offer at HONC feed stations ?

Accepted Answer

All riders will have the opportunity to stop at our main feed station in Guiting Power which is around halfway on any of the routes you choose to ride.   Water, tea/coffee and a selection of cakes from Norths Bakery Winchcombe will be free to all riders.  Energy gels and bars from TORQ fitness will also be given out for free.   

Riders choosing the 100km route will also be offered a mobile feed station at around 75/80km offering fresh water and energy products from TORQ fitness.  In the event of extreme temperatures more mobile water stations will be made available. 

All TORQ products and a selection of cakes from Norths Bakery will be vegan friendly and labelled at each stop.  

Please do not solely rely on our feed stations for food, come prepared if you have any specific dietary requirements or would prefer savoury food

What distances can I ride?

HONC offers 50,75 and 100km route options.  You are free to choose your distance as the entry fee covers all routes.  Please base your distance on your experience and fitness levels so you enjoy your day.

Are there toilets on the route?

Yes toilets are available at the event village and at the feed station in Guiting Power.

Question 7

Where is the HONC campsite?

Accepted Answer

The HONC campsite is next to the event village at Sudeley Castle Winchcombe.  Toilets and fresh water point available. No electric hook or open flames.

Question 8

What is the Mini HONC?

Accepted Answer

Mini HONC  is a junior ride 8-16  based on the famous Mountain Mayhem event. Solo riders or Teams have three hours to complete as many laps of the course set in the grounds of Sudeley Castle as possible. The track is a mixture of woodland single track and open grass track with a pit area for rider change over. Mini HONC takes place after all HONC riders have left the event village.

Transferring your place to someone else

Accepted Answer

If you are unable to attend an event, you may be able to transfer your place to someone else. Simply view your booking via the link in your confirmation email and, if the event organiser is currently permitting such transfers, click to Transfer to Someone Else.

You will be asked to enter the name and email address of the intended recipient - together with any custom message you wish to add - and on completion of the booking invitation sent to the recipient, your entry will be removed.

Question 10

Updating your user profile

Accepted Answer

When registering for an event, any details stored on your user profile will typically be pre-populated on the entry form. You can update these details (email address, name, date of birth, gender) via the Settings option in your login menu (displayed as your First Name when signed in).

The login menu will appear in the top-right of the page when viewed in a desktop browser, or can be accessed via the burger menu when viewing on a mobile device.
