We will be offering a small bag drop facility. Please make sure all bags are named with your full name clearly written. Please note, items are left at runners’ own risk and discretion. The team will not handle your bags and you will be responsible for collecting them after the race.

Parking

There is free parking in the surrounding streets but please check this when you park as some of the street parking in the area (especially east of the Lagoon) is chargeable. Please park considerately, leaving driveways clear.

Please be aware that we rely on the public toilet facilities on the Promenade. The nearest facilities are at the Big Beach Cafe approx 300m from the start line. Due to access limits and security requirements, we cannot offer portable toilets.

Headphones

Only bone conducting headphones are permitted at this event.
If you are seen to be wearing in-the-ear or over-the-ear headphones by our Race Team or an England Athletics Adjudicator, then you are at risk of being disqualified.

About the course
The race consists of two fast and pancake-flat laps along the Promenade and, with the right weather, fast times and PB's are still extremely likely. We ask that all runners keep to the left hand side of the promenade and take extra care in narrow sections and stay out of any cycle lanes at all times. This race carries a certificate of course accuracy.

Your route & marshals...
Your course will be clearly marked using large route arrows and directional cones, as well as being marshalled throughout. Please listen and obey all marshal instructions given. There will be a sweep marshal which will follow the last runner to make sure that no one is left on the route. All marshals will remain in place until stood down by the sweep marshal.

Other route users
Whilst there will be signage along the Promenade, please note that the race does not have exclusive use of the Prom. At certain sections, there will be other users including children, elderly, dogs and bikes. We ask you to be mindful and remain courteous throughout the race. The race will be well marshalled but we ask that all runners keep to the left hand side of the promenade and take extra care in narrow sections and stay out of any cycle lanes at all times.

Kit & Footwear

Your favourite running shoes should be fine for this race. Please keep an eye on the forecast and dress appropriately for the conditions, bringing a spare set of clothes (and socks!) if needed

Please do NOT drop litter. Bins will be provided, so please dispose of any litter correctly or take it home with you.

Water Stations

There will be a water station available at the finish line together with an additional water station on the course located just before the U-turn to start your second lap. Whilst we will ensure that our water stations are well supplied, runners should ensure that they are fully hydrated and we recommend that you carry your own water.

We always welcome anyone that would like to cheer on our runners and join the good spirit of the race by lending their encouragement and support.

Running with a buggy

Buggies are allowed but they are not allowed to race competitively and must start at the back.

Running with dogs

Please note, that due to the race being held under England Athletic rules, running with dogs is strictly prohibited at this event.
Anyone seen not adhering to this rule will be disqualified.

There will be the option to purchase a medal for a supplementary £4 fee whilst booking your entry.

Trophies & cash prizes will be available for 1st, 2nd, 3rd males & females. There will also be prizes for Vet Categories: 40-75 males, 35-75 females.

Prize Presentation

Weather permitting, the presentation will take place approximately 45 - 60 minutes after the first runner has crossed the finish line and when all the prize winners have arrived home. Please listen for announcements from your Race Director.

Live and provisional results will be available on the Nice Work website asap after the race. If you have any questions regarding the live results, please ensure that you have emailed this through to us by midday on the following Thursday. Any changes submitted after this time will not be included in the final results.

England Athletics govern the age restrictions for all of our races.
On the day of the race, you must be the following age for each distance:

10k: 15 years or over

Can I walk the event?

Whilst many of our runners walk some brief sections of the race to catch breath, this race is designed for runners and is not suitable for walking the entire distance.

First Aid & Fitness

First Aid Provision:
First Aid will be in attendance for the duration of the race.
Should you feel unwell at any stage of the race, please do not hesitate to wave down a marshal and they will call First Aid for you and ensure you are well cared for.

If you are unable to make your way to the next marshal point, please advise a fellow runner and ask them to notify a marshal of your location.

Your Health & Fitness
Before attempting to race we ask that you make sure you are 100% fit to do so. If you feel unwell or are carrying an injury, we would strongly recommend not taking part and only return to running once you feel fully fit to do so. If you are unsure if you are fit to run, please speak to your doctor.

Getting to the race

By Car: The event is accessible by car and there is parking located surrounding Hove Lagoon. Please pay attention to any parking charges in the area.

Or, use eco-friendly public transport...
By Train: Portslade railway station is the closest to the lagoon, but is around a 1 mile walk or cycle from the station to the race HQ.
By Bus: Bus number 6 leaves from Brighton Station and drops passengers quite near to the start. It runs every 30 mins.

This wonderful charity gives information, advice and support to families with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities across Brighton & Hove and East Sussex.
