Next Race: 31/10/2026
Leeds/Liverpool Canal, Wyther Lane, Kirkstall Leeds, LS5 3BT
Stephanie Binks
A welcoming event with lovely canal views
Friendly staff, very easy to book and manage things online.
It wasn't clear that toilets are in the cafe over the road and not at the exact start/finish line which is more challenging to access quickly, particularly for those running longer distances.
Lots of snacks available, however for those doing longer distances still best to bring your own as marshall station options get more limited as the day goes on.
A lovely medal and snacks await at the end.

Awesome
I would recommend not just this event but any event hosted by the Grim Up North team , they are very supportive and non judgmental and will support and help you every step of the way on your journey regardless of ability , the medals are always amazing and the cakes make it all worth while
Peter Mills
brilliant simple as that
Liz Riley
Friendly and welcoming
My first race event since 1973! Everyone was approachable and so friendly. Registration was easy, lots of clear information from the Marshalls. The cakes at the finish were very welcome. Thoroughly enjoyed the event and I even set a PB.
Holly Barker
Spooky fun
My only suggestion is a clearer indication of where the registration/bin pickup point is. I could not find this on the website.
Lyn Taylor
Absolutely phenomenal event as always
Grim up north runs are the best events to participate in, wether your pushing for a PB or running with friends, or taking part in your first ever race, everyone is welcoming, helpful, encouraging and supportive.
The medal is always superb, the cake & sweets at the end are beaut!
The events are very well organised and run so smoothly & the communication from the organisers is brilliant.
Aileen Banham

Simon Noble
Friendly, fun, made the children feel welcome. Well organised and great treats afterwards.
Helen Fairhurst
Very supportive and accommodating
We were thankful to be a part of this race as our original marathon had been abruptly cancelled with very short notice. It is very well organised and has a wonderful supportive team. We’re not from the area - everyone including the participants were warm and friendly. Would definitely attend another one of their runs and highly recommend. One small criticism is the medal does not state the achieved distance- but it is a fabulous medal
Rob Scott
Great event as per usual
Marc Blackburn
First organised event
Signed up for GNR next year without having ran in 20 years, found this and signed up for 5k as a step towards that, great first running medal and event! Got 10k on 13th December to train for now!
Rachel Hirst

But for having to ask where to register, a great all round event well managed
Laura Jennison
Great run with great people!
It was difficult to find the registration place, maybe some signs on the road would have been helpful but otherwise it was a brilliant event, thank you.
Jack Rowlands
Great day loved it!!
First race and will definitely do another!
Beautiful route and well organised. The snacks at the end were an added bonus with vegan and allergy friendly options, which are often forgotten about at events!
Welcoming and fun experience
Huw Brophy
Amazing and a quick flat course.
First Grim race and first marathon in a while and I came in first.
Over the moon loved it
Liz Ibbetson-Bristow
Such good value for money they threw in an extra km for free
The only reason I marked the atmosphere down is because I was on the 20miler and there were only 3 of us so once the 5kms had turned back I was alone for most of it till the other distances appeared.
