Serpentine really could charge more -£9 is purely a cost recovery sum to ensure that the event's expense can be covered. The run attracts mostly club runners, so you will see more of these runners than say at another event (e.g. Run Through) which might put off slower paced runners. It is a lovely turn up drop your bags off and run, no thrills just pure running.

This is what races should be: cheap, simple, no frills, by runners, for runners.
The route is great, in a beautiful park - despite not being dead flat (about 30m elevation total, so 'flattish') it's where I've set all my fastest 5k times. The organisation is old-school and highly efficient, the atmosphere is friendly, the field is keen club runners but not elite (median finish time is about 21-22 minutes) and it's perfectly placed for lunchtime in the city centre. Couldn't recommend it enough. Why isn't Malcolm in the new years honours?!

Been doing this race for 15 years. The calibre of entrants brings out the best in me despite being a mid-pack runner. Bring along your friends or office colleagues, you’ll love it.
