Event Overview:
This year's race will take place on Sunday 17th September, commemorating Battle of Britain Day.  We've got plenty of plans in the pipeline for a cracking 2023 event.  This event is a unique opportunity to run around the historic Hendon area carrying the name of a Battle of Britain serviceman, and supporting the RAF Museum London.

Our Roll of Honour cards are one of the most popular elements of the race. They enable you to carry the name of a Battle of Britain serviceman with you on your run. You will receive your Roll of Honour card with your race pack. Whether you talk about your pilot with your family and friends or share their stories on social media – we want you to get involved and keep their memory alive!  Help us honour those who defended our skies during the Battle of Britain by fundraising for the RAF Museum and pledging to raise £100. Once you hit your pledge you will receive your FREE technical t-shirt and a goody bag.

Course Details:
The race will take you around the edge of the historic London Aerodrome that once existed in Colindale. This is a road race so you will be running along pathways and the streets that follow the old airfield. The race will start on the museum green space, where you will run around our ‘taxiway’ that evokes the historic RAF Hendon Base, then exit the Museum by running past our Spitfire Gate Guardian. Once you’ve completed two laps you will run back into the Museum past the Spitfire, through Hangar 1 and under the beautiful Short Sunderland Flying boat, before crossing the finish line.

New for this year - home delivery is the only option for ordering your t-shirt, as we focus on sustainability and reducing waste. You need to please place your t-shirt order by Sunday 3rd September 2023. Thank you for helping us with this. 

Technical T-shirt: £19.50 (this included postage and packaging).

Please note there will NOT be any on the day sales of t-shirts.

If you select the fundraising option, then you do not need to purchase your t-shirt in advance. As long as you hit your pledge, you will be able to collect your t-shirt from the fundraising stand on the day. This gives you right up to the race to raise your £75.

Sustainibility
Ensuring the Spitfire 10K is sustainable as possible is important to the RAF Museum and Nice Work. Therefore 2023 will be our most sustainable race so far. For the first time our medals will be made out of wood, and created in the UK, with our unique aviation inspired designs continuing. The t-shirts will be printed in the UK. We have also been working hard to reduce the amount of waste created by the race, which is why we ask that you purchase your technical t-shirts online in advance.

By Public Transport:
We are only a short walk from Colindale tube, so why not arrive by public transport? We have limited parking at our London site, so we will be asking runners to register their number plate if you would like to drive, we will send an email out about this closer to the day.
