It’s a night Ironman in an industrial and housing estate, perfect!

This is the best value event ever. John dishes up the perfect event for those that like to suffer

third time i have done this event and it will not be the last very enjoyable and well organised

only concern is that some cyclists did not have lights on occasions a little bit dangerous. see you next year!

A small friendly race and very unusual bu the fact that you have to race in the night. Definitely needs a try!

It was perfect for a first timer like me. I rated it as poor for scenery because it was dark for most of the event. :)

Under the challenging circumstances of the weather the team did a good job. A few issues here and there but nothing I couldn't deal with.

No fuss. No thrills. Exactly what you need if you want to complete an Ironman distance.

Fantastic organisation and race on a budget. Great value for money. Lovely medal. Brilliant improvisation from organisers when the weather was against us. A few more toilets required on the run course.

Brilliant event

John worked hard to get this event to run. He deserves a medal of his own.

Great little friendly total bargain of an event catering to serious racers through to total beginners with a unique twist.

Totally crazy concept but it just works
Will be like nothing you have ever done before
Hard core of supporters are brilliant
Little event feel means you just don't feel like a number amongst the masses, all the organisers and volunteers are super friendly
Closed roads for bike are a bonus balanced against the monotony of 20 laps (or 26 as it turned out this year)
Outstanding value for money

Super friendly and relaxed - brilliantly organised

First triathlon I did and couldn't recommend this race more. Small and friendly and a wonderful atmosphere. John the organiser is brilliant and he is there to get you into the lake and pull you out ! All the staff are so friendly too. Thoroughly enjoyed myself (as much as you can a triathlon!) and would absolutely recommend.

Awesome

Totally different experience to other ironmans. One I wouldn't have had the opportunity to do had weather not cancelled other races. Not the best scenery but cool still cos bit different. Good crowd. Great officials and organiser. Managed to still run when other companies might have shortened or cancelled. You gave me the chance to finally complete an ironman and I will always be grateful. Would definitely recommend as an ironman with a twist. I hope this race goes from strength to strength. Thanks to John and the team. Phil x

Well organised and friendly event

Really enjoyed the half Ironman race last year so back this year to try the full distance. Well organised registration. Good water temperature for the swim. A fast flat closed road bike course with laps so spectators are able to enjoy it. The wind and dead turns kept it challenging. The run through the night makes up for the lack of interesting scenery and the access to the friendly feed station on every lap keeps you going. A really good event with a choice of distances so can suit all levels of ability.

Great support & Brilliantly Organised

Fantastic event organisation, all the marshals were super helpful and friendly. The support round the course was really lovely and kept me going when fatigue set in. I can only imagine having to adjust to the road closure changes and weather conditions in the lead up to the event must have been a nightmare, but the updates were brilliant and the course adjustments were absolutely fine and as a result there was really minimal impact on the day. The lake was really rather lovely to swim in as the sun was going down, what I great spot, if I lived there i’d be in the water every day :)

Small request: My race number was 75 Laura May.
I forgot by racebelt coming out of swim/bike transition on the Aqua/Bike event, so had to go back and therefore crossed the mat twice. Thank you for noticing, you made a note of my race number at the time. Would it be possible to look at my timing chip readings and work out my bike time and overall time, my print out said 1hr 30mins!

Thank you! Laura

Great value, very well organised event with the additional novelty of being an overnight event on closed roads.

The scenery isn't great but the roads are closed and it is night time so after 10 you don't really notice.

The setting may not be the grandest but the organisation must be one of the best. Loved it.

You need another bracket for "Value for money". This event is outstanding for the price. The organisation is so friendly and personal with the size of the event. But for that you still get a close road cycle and lovely quiet roads for running alongside. All of the volunteers were wonderful and supportive, no matter how tired they must have been, and that drove me on to a finish. There is no way I could recommend this event and the organisers enough. Though I might not come back for an Ironman distance I will certainly be back for something else. Many thanks for giving me the best chance to nail that Ironman distance.

Excellent!

Only as a minor constructive criticism. It would have been a little easier on the swim if there was a few more buoys, but it was totally fine, just felt a little lost at a couple of points.

A really tough, exciting, special experience.

TITLE: 2017 MIDNIGHT MAN WOMAN LONG COURSE

Tremendous experience involving a beautiful swim, great roads for cycling and running.
The staff organisation, volunteers and marshals were outstanding and went out of their way to ease the pain and exertions of the long night.
I had checked the weather forecast beforehand and had brought clothing for a balmy night, it was chilly though and I found it pretty cold cycling in short sleeves.
The drinks and supplies were not sumptuous but were more than adequate. The marshals handing out supplies were fantastic and uplifting in their support.
Some competitors had really good lights whereas others, had the bare minimum; I was glad I had two good front lights.
It was hard, really really hard, working through the 20 laps of the bike course; the 8 laps of the run were also tough- brutal would be a more accurate word, there again it is an Ironman distance event and even though it has little in the way of gradients, it takes an enormous amount of willpower to cope with the repetitive nature of the course. I finished it vowing to never, ever do another one, yet here I am, a day later thinking fondly of the day (and night).
I may have to reconsider
