A great 'home' triathlon - very well organised, friendly and a good bike loop! A good first open water tri too as plenty of room!
It would be great to reduce single use plastic with a move to recyclable cups. Also a reminder not to litter on the course - should go without saying but then it's all clear!
Extremely enjoyable. Thanks for a good day.
I thought thee event was well organised.
The matting in transition was appreciated, but NOT the sand! It would be good if you could find a way round that. A strip of matting to link the gate to the entrance to transition would be greatly appreciated. That walk hurt!
The Burgers were awful. The use of plastic containers is surely out of step with current environmental thinking.
As a super-vet 75-79, it is disappointing not to see the results against the standard age groups. I am not at all concerned that there is only one prize for the over 50's. Just want to be able to compare with my age group and adjacent age groups. We may not seem very important but we need some motivation and interest!
Overall good
No
Enjoyed my first triathlon
Transition was very cramped but I don't know if this is normal. Otherwise great.
Very good first triathlon!
Great day, great course, great organisation
Great introduction to the sport!!
It was my first ever tri along with 3 mates and certainly wont be my last, loved it. I forgot my helmet stupidly and one of the event organisers/helpers lent me his. It was extremely kind it meant I could enjoy the day, thank you!! The atmosphere was fantastic and I certainly have the tri bug now!!! thanks again and See you next year!!
Big enough to be an event, small enough to feel you matter.
The marshals were great, they are also involved in Triathlon so understand what you are going through and bring the enthusiasm and friendliness of volunteers. I am not a huge fan of the run course, I always find laps difficult, however it is better than having to slog down the nearby roads. I think the Lake is brilliant and the best bit of this event. I went to event last September that I did not enjoy, However one thing they did have was a band on the run course which was playing music that was fun to run along with, it helped me deal with a very boring run leg. Perhaps a band could help entertain the spectators and add even more of a festival atmosphere to this event. I thought the raffle after the prize giving was a brilliant idea and enjoyed it. However, I am not sure the organisers had made it clear how good the prizes were. If they had done I am sure more people would have stuck around.
I also like this event as it is an 8 mile bike ride from my home, so no savage early morning and also arriving already a bit warmed up on the bike is fab! One grumble was that the transition area seemed a bit cramped, but in the end it didn't cause me a problem in transition.
Thanks again Tri2O!
Friendly, well organised event
Not sure if it was new for this year but the Astro turf in the transition area was much appreciated. The concrete surface can be hard on the feet.
The website where I accessed my times was very good as well- easy to navigate etc
The only thing I’d have liked would be a mars bar or bar of chocolate as I crossed the finish line!
Good courses, water clear and weed free
An excellent event, very well organised.
It would have been better if there had been awards for the men and ladies over 60s and over 70s. Also there was no age group for the over 70s in the results analysis and even when I printed out my certificate it just said that I came 6th in the over 60’s. Why can’t there be an age group of over 70? Shouldn’t people over 70 be encouraged to take part in such an event? It’s almost discouraging us to take part. Apart from all this I enjoyed the event and I will be taking part providing I can keep myself fit. Thanks
Quick and well organised.
once again good weather and good atmosphere
yep,
when you enter you are put into different age groups and yet the winners are not eg male over 60+ is joined to male 50+ so why put that category in....either give separate prizes or do not have a 60+ catagory.
Personally I think the few people who are still competing at 60+ should be recognised and winners rewarded.
Great first Olympic triathlon experience!
Well organised and all around good event.
Great run event this is the second year I have entered and will probably look to enter next year
I think the buoys in the water could do with some more air in them bit flat and if upright even easier to spot. Water quality great. Bike course really nice and scenic and fairly quiet roads.
I would recommend to beginners with a bit of caution only for the run everything else is fantastic, as if you are not use to running on grass/off-road it does make it quite difficult. However this was the first Olympic I ever entered and have come back a second time this year so maybe eating my words a bit!
Brilliant local race. Very well organised.
Excellent, well organised, great swim location and bike route
Really well organised, really efficient, no-faffing especially at the end with regards to prize giving, awesome swim location, great cycle route incorporating some small hills and descents and fast flats, unusual run route which I think mixes it up a bit being mainly XC! overall really impressed and would definitely come back. Cycle routes v well signposted and great marshalling.
Excellent first Tri experience!
One of my favourite events
