Question 1

What is the course like, what shoes should I wear and is it beginner-friendly?

Accepted Answer

The first half of the course is mainly on trail; the second half is a mixture of pavement and promenade.  Although the trail section may be wet or muddy, it is not extreme, therefore road shoes are recommended for comfort for the non-trail section.  This course is pretty much flat.  Very beginner-friendly but also a good challenge for those wanting a quick 50km race. The course will be fully signed and for those also using GPS, the route will be sent to all runners before race day

Question 2

It is a point-to-point race - how do I manage that?

Accepted Answer

1) If you have the means to get back to the start after the race, you can go straight to the start, park, register and run (check car park prices & closing times)

2) Your supporters can drop you at the start - if they drop you & leave within 15 mins it is free, if they stay to watch you start normal charges will apply.

3) If there are a few of you, you can park one car at the finish and share a car to go to the start (check car park charges & closing time)

4) You can use the race bus transport that takes you from the finish to the start BEFORE the race.  So you a) park at the finish, b) catch the bus to the start, c) run, d) your car is at the finish. You can add this option at the registration process (£8) or via the 'edit entry' link in your confirmation email up until  four weeks before race day.  You will receive full details on how/where/when to catch the bus in the week before race day.  More details can be found in the Race Information Pack on the race web pages.

Question 3

When and where do I register & pick up my race pack?

Accepted Answer

You will be able to pick up your race pack from Registration at the start venue on race day.  You will be advised how/what/when in the run-up to race day

Question 4

What is the Cut-Off time for the race?

Accepted Answer

The overall cut-off time is 5pm.  This allows for most people to have the opportunity to enter.  There are check-points/feed stations every 10km (approximately!) and you need to be within the rolling cut-off time at each checkpoint as well as at the finish.  Specific cut-off times can be found in the Race Information Pack on the race webpage

Question 5

How many feed stations are there and what will we get?

Accepted Answer

There are four feed-stations (checkpoints) at approximately every 10km.  These will offer a selection of sweet and savoury snacks.  There will also be water and flat coke.  The energy drink on offer is from our partners Active Root and will be available at each checkpoint. If you have any dietary requirements, or if you wish to use your tried & trusted nutrition on race day, you have the option to drop your own bag of goodies at the start to be taken out to the feed stations on the 2nd half of the course. This is a FREE service.  Lots of information on feed stations in the Race Information Pack, which will be on the race webpage at least three weeks before race day.

Question 6

Is there medical support?

There will be dedicated medical support throughout the race.  Contact numbers and full details of what to do in an emergency will be given to you in the pre-race information packs and again at race registration. The phone numbers will be on your race numbers also.

Question 7

I can no longer participate in the race - what can I do?

Accepted Answer

Depending on the amount of time before race day, you have a number of options available to you.  Please read the t's & c's which you can find in your confirmation email.  

If you cannot attend and opted for the insurance offered during the registration process, please contact the provider directly.
