Tooting Bec Athletics Track
Perfectly organised event that gives first-class experience for all participants. Sri Chinmoy Team are so knowledgeable and supportive, they really will help you achieve whatever goal you set yourself.
Thank you so much again for another fantastic event you put on in Sept 26 back at Tooting.
I think it was my 22nd 24 hour track race but yet it will still be a very memorable experience. I know that each event has slightly different feel to them, but I know that I'm always in knowledgeable, safe supporting and encouraging hands when I do the Sri Chinmoy ones. Everyone was so kind and helpful as always.
It was such a privilege to be able to see some fellow runners achieve their goals as well as watch Brian massively surpassing any goal he might have had.. so much so that he'll probably never be persuaded to do one again because the only way is down after that... ;-). Luckily for me I didn't quite reach my target of 100 miles but was tantalisingly close enough to have a definitely yearning to have another crack. I reached 100 'strava miles' and also was then able to spend my traditional few laps with Pat in the last 20 mins and was thrilled to accompany her when she reached her 100KM goal. I couldn't think of a better way to spend a weekend.
I think you asked for feedback on runners thoughts on whether Tooting or Battersea was preferred venue. As you said, there's pros and cons with both. Tooting felt more 'driveable' to from Bristol ie we were able to drive up on the Friday, park nearby, and stay over both on the friday night before the race and Sunday after too as the local premier inns etc. are far more affordable than Battersea area. I don't think But I guess if we'd been at Battersea we'd have probably gone by coach and travelled up on morning and travelled straight back after. Potentially knowing we were staying over did enable Brian to 'leave everything out there on the track', if the 1 hour 30 minute it took him to then walk the mile to the Premier Inn were anything to judge it by, whereas if we'd known we had to travel back straight after, it 'might' have made him put the brakes on a bit. But who knows. As we don't have crew usually, not being able to bring car onto the track didn't make any difference to us. If it had been Battersea, we wouldn't have driven as it wouldn't have been safe for Brian to drive any distance after and we couldn't have parked freely nearby.
Track surface comparison. Last time I was at Battersea, it seemed to have lots of craters in it especially in the outer lanes, which I found tricky as my sight is very poor (with zero in left eye) especially when I'm moving whereas Tooting seemed to have far less trip hazards once I'd worked out judging the timing mat each lap. But that said I think you said Battersea is being resurfaced so maybe there will be less trip hazards there in future.
Re indoor space at the 2 venues. I try to avoid needing to use the indoor space (other than to do very quick change of top at end), so can't judge these.
Wherever you choose to put one on, I'll be a fan of it.. I've heard Bristol / Gloucester has some nice tracks ;-).

Races don't get more supportive than this
So many great things to say.
Every lap my counter noticed me "got you Luke", "great running Luke", "Impressive stuff Luke", ...
Every time I asked "What's my laps / miles / km please?" I got an instant answer (even if it was always a lower number than I hoped)
Passing the aid station, "Please may I order a cup of tea?", it would be waiting for me on the next lap
All the other runners, consistent "Well done Luke", "Keep moving, looking good"
Asking the race director "My stomach is sore and bloated, what should I do?", instant answer
When it finished, by the time I packed my kit and got to the start line, pizzas were waiting
It's just the best event, no wonder I keep going back every year.
