Question 1

Can I run with my dog at your events?

Accepted Answer

No, unfortunately we can not allow you to run with your dog, this is due to insurance, permissions and risk factors.

Question 2

Can I have a support crew or someone come with me or meet me with supplies along the route?

Accepted Answer

No outside support allowed - Unless the event allows you to meet at CP locations. You may purchase items from shops such as food and drink and batteries and so on but you can not be met by anyone who brings you for example spare clothing or shoes or delivers food. This is an unfair advantage and you must be self reliant. If you need someone to bring something like medicines you have lost etc then please message us to gain permission.

Question 3

Can I stay in a Hotel or a pub during the race?

Accepted Answer

No staying in hotels for a sleep, it's not in the spirit of the event being a self sufficient challenge.

Question 4

What happens If I drop out on an event?

Accepted Answer

If you drop out we will come pick you up when we can but you are responsible for onwards travel home once we return your drop bag if you have one. We will take you to the nearest station or look after you until a station opens in the morning but we have no obligation to transport you to a hotel or to the finish area. We advise you to be self sufficient and have the means on your person to purchase a train ticket or otherwise get yourself to the finish or where your drop bag is.

Tracker or timing chip loss/damage.

Accepted Answer

If you drop out and do not return the tracker/timing chip to us then you are responsible for additional hire charges and costs, taking care of the tracker/timing chip is your responsibility and any damage to it will incur a charge.

Question 6

How Strict are the Cut-Offs? Can I continue on after cut-offs using  the trackers?

Accepted Answer

Cut-offs will be enforced fully, if you are timed out then you are out and can not continue as part of the race and if you insist you will carry on the tracker and race number will be removed from you and you will be made to sign the race number to agree that you understand the race has no more responsibility for your safety.

Question 7

Can someone run on the trails with me during the event for support?

Accepted Answer

No person who is not in the race can run on the course with you, supporters can wave at you as you pass but not run with you or carry anything for you along the course, this is an unfair advantage. This includes for safety or support concerns. If you have safety concerns we suggest buddying up with other runners in areas where you feel unsafe. Contact us if there are other support for medical needs etc.

Question 8

How will you keep me safe on the trails at night?

Accepted Answer

You have a tracker and phone and we can monitor you remotely but ultimately you are responsible for your safety and if you are concerned about running in the dark or at night on your own we would recommend running with a friend or another runner entered in the race at night. We do not allow Buddy/Support runners on the course.

What food and drinks are available at Checkpoints?

Accepted Answer

As a minimum we will provide, Water (tap water not bottled), coke, squash, sweets, biscuits, savoury snacks, flapjack, cereal bars, chocolate, fresh fruit, vegan, veggie and GF alternatives. Some longer events may have hot food available at indoor checkpoints.

Question 10

What food and drink is available at the finish of your events?

Accepted Answer

At the finish we will have FREE tea and coffee plus the same foods as the checkpoints - We always use up the remaining leftover food from checkpoints at the end to reduce waste post event. Some events may have basic hot foods available.

Question 11

Do you have bottled water available at your checkpoints or finishes?

Accepted Answer

No, bottled water is expensive and all that plastic is not environmentally friendly. We use tap water filled into 25ltr containers on the checkpoints. These containers are cleaned, steralised and rinsed out before events, though if you are not used to drinking tap water from a different area it may taste different to what you are used to but it's perfectly safe and just as wet!

Will the food vendors or checkpoints at your events cater for dietary requirements?

Accepted Answer

Yes they we cater for most dietary requirements, Veggie, Vegan, GF and Dairy. Please ensure you speak to Vendors or CP when ordering. Make sure you declare any dietary needs on your entry form so we can plan foods.

Question 13

Can we use poles on events?

Accepted Answer

Backyard rules forbid poles but you may use them on our other events.

Question 14

As a Trans athlete can I run in the category I choose?

Accepted Answer

In Backyard events there are no separate categories for sex/gender and you can identify as you wish.

In all other events you must compete in the sex you went through puberty as.

Will I get to meet the Bearded AI God in person at the events?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Lindley will be at all the events and if you ask nicely he may even let you stroke his beard!

Question 16

How do I move or defer my place to another event or next year?

Accepted Answer

You must sign into your Eventrac account (you will need to have set an account up to access all the options).

Then there will be an option on your booking page to move or transfer your booking.

There will be the £20 transfer fee plus any difference in price to pay before the transfer/move is completed.

Please not that discounts such as volunteer points and other discount codes are not transferable between events and people.
