Question 1

Why haven’t I received a confirmation email?

Accepted Answer

These are generated automatically at the time of booking and sent to your registered e-mail. If you haven’t received a confirmation email, please first check your spam or junk folder. If you still can not find a confirmation email, please contact us on contact@sportingeventsuk.com and we will assist. You can also check your list of booked events by logging into your profile on our website. You will find the login section in the top right hand corner.

Question 2

What time does the Event HQ open on the day of the event?

Accepted Answer

Event HQ generally opens 1hr 30mins before the start of the race. However, exact timings will be detailed in your final instructions email.

Question 3

When will I receive my final instructions email?

Accepted Answer

The final instructions email will be sent to you 5 days before the event. This email will contain all the information you need regarding your upcoming event. Be sure to check your spam/junk folder of your e-mail if you haven't received this, but if you still can't find it please contact us on contact@sportingeventsuk.com.

Question 4

The event is showing as sold out, will there be entries on the day and is there a waiting list?

Accepted Answer

If the event is full, we won't be able to offer entries on the day. We do operate waiting lists for sold out events, which are allocated in chronological order based on registering on the waiting list. No payment is taken to register on the waiting list. The system will e-mail you if a place becomes available and you will then make the payment. The offer of a place is time limited, which will be detailed on the waiting list invitation if your receive one. If you don't make payment in that time the place will be offered to the next person on the waiting list. If it is less than 2 days until the event it is highly unlikely you will get a place. The waiting list place is not applicable on the day. On the day entries are a first come first served basis including any standby availability we may offer on the day. The waiting list does not carry over to on the day entries.

Question 5

Can I enter on the day?

Accepted Answer

Some events do offer on the day entries. This will be detailed on the event page, and is always subject to space and time restrictions. Please check the detail on each event page. If you have registered on the waiting list for an event that is full, this is not carried over to on the day entries. On the day entries are on a first-come-first served basis.

Question 6

The booking page says the e-mail address is already registered

Accepted Answer

This means that you have already setup your profile on our system, and you need to press the sign-in button at the top of the booking page and enter your password. You can enter multiple people using one e-mail address, and the bookings will all appear on your profile. You can check your profile in the top right hand corner of our website.

Question 7

Will my  race pack or bib number be sent to me prior to the event via the post?

Accepted Answer

No, event packs and bib numbers are to be collected on the day of the event from the Event HQ. Photographic ID is required to collect your event pack.

Question 8

Can I bring a photo of my ID?

Accepted Answer

Photographs of ID are acceptable to collect your event pack, but must be clear and easy to read.

Question 9

I am no longer able to run in the event. Can I transfer my entry to another person?

Accepted Answer

Although our terms and conditions of booking do not allow for any refunds, if you are no longer able to participate in the event, you may transfer your place to another person free of charge (some exclusions do apply and is at our discretion). To do so, please log in to your account and manage your booking following the on screen instructions. This can be done no later than 4 full working days before the event (for example if the event is on a Sunday, the last opportunity for transfer would be Monday 5pm).

I have entered an event with multiple race distances, how do I change the race distance I am entered in?

At many events we offer multiple race distances. To change the distance of the race you are entered in please log in and manage your booking following the on screen instructions. Please note, if you wish to change to a longer distance, you will be required to pay the difference in cost.

Question 11

Do you have wave starts at the events and when do I find out what wave I am in?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we do operate wave starts. You will find the information about which wave your allocated on the day of the event when you collect your race pack. As the time gap between waves is only 60 seconds you do not need this before the event itself.

Question 12

I have been allocated a wave that is different from my running partner, am I able to swap waves?

Accepted Answer

Waves are allocated based on your predicted finish time. You can move back to a wave further back, but you may not move forward to a new wave. If you wish to move waves, please inform a member of the Events Team.

Question 13

What is the time gap between the waves?

Waves are approximately 60 seconds apart.

Question 14

I have been injured and my predicted finish time has changed, how do I change this?

Accepted Answer

If your predicted finish time has changed, you can login in to your account and Manage you booking to update the time. This will ensure you are allocated to the correct wave.

Question 15

Can I run with a pushchair/buggy or dog?

Accepted Answer

Some of our events may be suitable for buggies/pushchairs. This is subject to our safety and risk assement. You should contact us directly about the event you wish to do. The buggy/pushchair must be a buggy that is specifically designed for running. No dogs are allowed to run at our events.

Can I run whilst wearing headphones?

Accepted Answer

You can run with bone conducting headphones, but no other types of earphones or headphones or ear buds are allowed. This is for safety reasons, as you need to be able to hear people around you and the event team and marshal instructions. UK Athletics rules state that any headphones on or in the ear are not allowed. If you are unsure if your headphones are compliant contact us to check with a picture of your headphones.

We often find that people love the atmosphere at our events, so why miss out on this special part of the day.

If you do wear any headphones, earphones or ear buds other than bone conducting headphones you will be disqualified from the event. This is a condition of our insurance, and all events held under UK Athletics approved licenses.

Question 17

Where will I find my race results?

At nearly all our events we offer live results. As you cross the line, your result will be available immediately from our website at: www.sportingeventsuk.com or click Results from the menu at the top of this page.

If you have opted into our text service, you will receive an SMS text result direct to your phone as you cross the line.

Question 18

Will event photographs be available after the event?

Accepted Answer

At events where we have photographs on course, photographs will be available free of charge via our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/sportingeventsuk post event. We aim to have event photos online within a week of the event. Not all our events have an official photographer.

Question 19

How can I get involved with volunteering at your events?

If you are interested in volunteering at one of our events, please email contact@sportingeventsuk.com or go to our Volunteering page and register your interest in one of the events shown. We have a number of roles available so would love to hear from you.

Question 20

I have previously volunteered at an event, how do I claim my race credit?

Accepted Answer

Thank you for taking the time to help make our events special. To claim your race credit for a future event, please email contact@sportingeventsuk.com with the event you wish to participate in (a few events are excluded from the scheme, but we will confirm via e-mail). Please note it is not possible to use a race credit once online entries have closed or if the event is already sold out.

What are my options for deferring my place at an event due to pregnancy?

If you become pregnant after booking your event, you may defer your place at the same event for up to 2 years at no additional cost. If you wish to transfer to another event and the entry fee is higher, you will need to pay the difference in cost. To defer your place please contact us via contact@sportingeventsuk.com.
