We’re always on the lookout for reliable, positive people to help bring Hellfire to life, whether you're supporting a runner, gaining experience, or just want to help the community.

About the Event
The Kent Backyard Ultra at Dover is Round Two of our 2025/26 series — and it kicks off on a cold January morning with runners ready to test their limits.
Participants complete a 4.167-mile loop (a “yard”) every hour, on the hour, until only one person is left standing. Some will bow out after a few hours. Others will keep going deep into the night — and beyond.
Backyard Ultras are one of the most sociable and supportive formats in ultra running. It’s small, personal, and deeply human — and none of it happens without volunteers.
Volunteer Setup Time
Set-up begins at 12:00 PM on Friday 9th January.
If you're helping with build, signage, or course prep, this is when we’ll need you.
Key Roles on the Day
• Registration & welcome (from 07:00 Saturday)
• Checkpoint and support crew (throughout the day and night)
• Timing assistance / bell management
• Course marshals
• Media support (photo & video)
• Hot drinks, snack prep, and general morale boosting!
Shifts will vary depending on your availability — from a few hours during the day to overnight support into Sunday morning.
The Venue
We’ll be based at Great Farthingloe Farm, just outside central Dover.
There’s parking on site, indoor HQ space, toilets, and access to scenic trails through the surrounding countryside. Most of the action will centre around Race HQ, but marshals and signage will be needed at key points on the course.

About the Event
The Kent Backyard Ultra at Sholden is Round Three of our 2025/26 series — and it brings a fresh challenge deep into the spring trail season.
Participants complete a 4.167-mile loop (a “yard”) every hour, on the hour, until only one person is left standing. Some runners will stop after a few yards. Others will push into the night — and beyond.
Backyard Ultras are one of the most sociable and supportive formats in ultra running. It’s small, personal, and built on community — and none of it happens without volunteers.

Kent Backyard Ultra - Bedgebury Pine Forest

Venue: Bedgebury National Pinetum & Forest, Kent

About the Event
The Kent Backyard Ultra at Bedgebury is Event Four, the final showdown of the 2025/26 series.
After three events, this is where it all ends or keeps going. Runners will arrive knowing exactly what’s at stake: pride, progress, and the Black Buckle.
As always, participants will complete a 4.167-mile loop (a “yard”) every hour, on the hour, until only one person is left standing. Some will go deep. A few might go further than ever before.
This is one of the most social, challenging, and emotionally honest formats in endurance running and it doesn’t work without volunteers like you.
Volunteer Setup Time
Set-up begins at 11:00 AM on Friday 26th June.

Key Roles on the Day
• Registration & welcome (from 17:00 Friday)
• Checkpoint and support crew (throughout the day and night)
• Timing assistance / bell management
• Course marshals
• Media support (photo & video)
• Hot drinks, snack prep, and general morale boosting!
Shifts will vary depending on your availability from a few hours during the day to overnight support as the final yards unfold into Sunday and beyond.
The Venue
We’ll be based at Bedgebury National Pinetum & Forest, one of the most scenic and shaded venues in the series.
There’s parking, toilets, and a dedicated Race HQ area set within the forest. Expect tall trees, dry trails, and big efforts.
Most of the action will be centred around HQ, but we’ll also need marshals and signage out on key points of the course.
We host events throughout Kent.
