Transferring your place to someone else

Accepted Answer

If you are unable to attend an event, you may be able to transfer your place to someone else. Simply view your booking via the link in your confirmation email and, if the event organiser is currently permitting such transfers, click to Transfer to Someone Else.

You will be asked to enter the name and email address of the intended recipient - together with any custom message you wish to add - and on completion of the booking invitation sent to the recipient, your entry will be removed.

Question 2

Updating your booking/registration information

Accepted Answer

If any of the details provided during your registration for an event are incorrect/outdated, you may be able to update them yourself. Simply view your booking via the link in your confirmation email and, if the event organiser is currently permitting such updates, click to Update Booking.

You will be able to update any responses except your Name and Date of Birth, but must ensure you click Proceed at the foot of the page to save any changes. Note that you will not receive confirmation of any changes by email.

Question 3

How can I add an Item to my event booking

Accepted Answer

If you forget to do so during registration, or later change your mind, you can still purchase any merchandise/add-ons offered by the organiser of an event you have already booked.

Simply follow the link in your booking confirmation email to view/manage your entry, and select “Add Items to Booking” from the available options. You will then be taken to the the event merchandise page where you can add any items to your orders as necessary.

When and where is the Weymouth Half Marathon 2026?

The race takes place on Sunday 15th March 2026. Race HQ and the start are at The Pavilion, The Esplanade, Weymouth, Dorset, DT4 8ED. The finish is at the Pavilion Front Car Park.

Question 5

What time does the race start?

Accepted Answer

The race starts at 08:00. All runners must be in the start area and ready before this time. Both the Half Marathon and the Half Half start at the same time from the same location.

Who organises the race?

Question 7

What is the course like?

Accepted Answer

The route takes runners through the heart of Weymouth, along the seafront, and out towards the Jurassic coastline. It is largely flat and spectator-friendly. The route is primarily on roads, with a very short off-road section on a gravel track.

How long is each event?

Accepted Answer

The Half Marathon is 13.1 miles. The Half Half is approximately 7 miles.

Are there road closures on the course?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Road closures will be in place from 07:00. There are also a small number of controlled road crossings where traffic management teams will operate stop-go systems. In some sections runners will share pathways with members of the public.

What is the course split between the Half Marathon and the Half Half?

Accepted Answer

When runners return towards the Pavilion around the halfway point, the course splits. Half Half runners continue straight ahead (Pavilion on right, sea on left) directly to the finish. Half Marathon runners must turn right before the Pavilion, heading down Custom House Quay (harbour side) to complete the second half of the course. It is each runner’s responsibility to follow the correct route. Study the map and signage carefully before race day.

Question 11

What happens if I accidentally follow the wrong route at the split?

If you are running the Half Marathon, do not follow Half Half runners or you will miss the second half of the course. If you are running the Half Half, do not turn right at the split point or you will run further than intended. All runners pass through the finish line once only, regardless of distance.

Question 12

What if I decide to drop down from the Half Marathon to the Half Half on the day?

You must inform the timing team immediately at the finish line. If you do not, the system will record your time as a Half Marathon result, which can affect prize allocations and may require results to be reviewed after the event.

Are there cut-off times?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and they are strictly enforced. All Half Marathon runners must reach Town Bridge at 7.3 miles by 10:00. The overall race cut-off is 11:15 (just under 15-minute miles for the full course). The Town Bridge cut-off is fixed because the bridge must reopen to marine traffic at that time — which is why the race has an 08:00 start.

What happens if I miss a cut-off?

You may be asked to stop and follow marshal instructions, or be diverted from the course. These decisions are made by event officials and marshals on the day. Marshal instructions must be followed at all times.

Where are the water stations?

Accepted Answer

The Half Marathon has 4 water stations: 500ml bottled water with sports caps at approximately the halfway point, and water barrel stations at approximately 3.5 miles, 9.5 miles, and 11 miles. The Half Half has 2 water stations: at approximately 3.5 miles and at the finish. Half Half runners do not need to take a bottle at the halfway point as they are almost at the finish.

Can I bring my own cup or bottle to water stations?

Yes. At water barrel stations you may fill your own cup or bottle, or take a cup provided at the station. Water bottles and cups must be collected by the runner and disposed of in the waste bins provided along the course. Littering is not permitted.

When will my race number be sent?

Accepted Answer

Race numbers are dispatched in the week beginning 23rd February 2026. Envelopes are printed with timing chips attached and sent 2nd class via Royal Mail. Delivery can take 2–7 days and not all numbers are dispatched on the same day.

Question 19

My race number hasn’t arrived — what should I do?

Accepted Answer

Please do not contact the organisers in advance about a missing race number as this will not speed up the process. A small number of numbers will not be delivered. Replacement numbers will not be sent out in advance of race day. Queries and replacements can be resolved at the Pavilion on Saturday 14th March (10:00–14:00) or Sunday 15th March (06:30–07:00).

Question 20

How do I wear my race number?

Your race number must be worn on the front of your vest or t-shirt and must not be folded. Your timing chip is attached to the back of the race number — there is no separate chip to collect.

Is there registration on race day?

Accepted Answer

No. All race numbers are posted out in advance and there is no on-the-day registration. You do not need to attend any event briefings and do not need to notify the organisers that you have arrived.

What should I write on the back of my race number?

In case of an emergency, please write any relevant medical information on the back of your race number before the race.

How do I know if I’m entered in the Half Half vs the Half Marathon?

Accepted Answer

Half Half runners will have a coloured band across the middle of their race number. This helps marshals and volunteers identify runners on different sections of the course.

How is my time recorded?

Individual start times are recorded when runners cross the start line, so each runner has their own accurate start and finish time (chip timing). All runners must cross the start mat once only and in the direction of the course.

When does Race HQ open?

Race HQ is located inside the Pavilion on Weymouth Esplanade and opens at 06:00 on race morning. Baggage drop and storage (in the Ocean Room) opens at 07:00.

Has the start location changed for 2026?

Accepted Answer

Yes — this is an important change for 2026. Due to essential works being carried out on the harbour wall, the usual start location could not be used. The start line has been repositioned and runner flow updated. The exact position will be confirmed once the official course measurer has completed the final measurement. From the Pavilion, runners head along the Esplanade before continuing onto the main course.

How do I access the start area?

The best access to the start line queue is via the rear exit of the Ocean Room inside the Pavilion. Access from the front of the Pavilion will be restricted on race morning due to ongoing contractor works. Runners will follow a one-way queuing system. All runners must walk through the queuing area. Marshals will be in place to guide runners and manage flow.

How should I self-seed in the start area?

Athletes self-seed based on their estimated finish time. Please position yourself appropriately so that both you and other runners can enjoy the early stages of the course, particularly through the first mile.

How early should I arrive?

We strongly recommend arriving earlier than you think you need to. Allow time to park, get to Race HQ, drop your bag, and reach the start line calmly and without rushing. This also helps ease congestion around the Pavilion.

Where can I leave my bag?

Baggage drop and storage is located in the Ocean Room inside the Pavilion and opens at 07:00.

What do I need to do with my baggage label?

Accepted Answer

A baggage label is attached to your race number. If you intend to drop your bag, remove this label from your race number and securely attach it to your bag before dropping it off.

How do I collect my bag after the race?

You will need your race number for staff to identify your stored bag. Please check that you have been given the correct bag before leaving the baggage area.

Where should I park?

We recommend the Swannery car park, the largest in Weymouth, which provides a straightforward approach into town. It is approximately a 10–15 minute walk from the Swannery to Race HQ. Weymouth has a number of other public car parks within walking distance — see the car park map on the website.

Should I use the Pavilion car park?

Accepted Answer

No — please avoid the Pavilion car park on race day. Due to ongoing works and a temporary traffic light system in the area, we strongly discourage runners from using it. While limited access is available before 07:00, vehicles parked there are likely to experience delays. Crucially, vehicles in the Pavilion car park will not be able to exit until road closures are lifted, expected around 11:15–11:30.

What are the alternatives to driving?

If you are staying locally, walk to Race HQ. If travelling from further afield, consider car sharing. Road closures are in place from 07:00, so allowing extra time is essential.

Where are the toilets?

Accepted Answer

The Pavilion has toilets at the front, rear, and upstairs, but queues can build up quickly before the start. There are approximately 20 additional toilets at the Beach Office by the King George Statue, around 500 metres from the Pavilion in the direction of the race route — these typically have much shorter queues. The King George Statue toilets are also available during the race at approximately 6.8 miles.

Any tips for avoiding toilet queues?

If you are arriving early, warming up, or approaching Race HQ from the seafront, use the toilets near the King George Statue rather than those at the Pavilion. Plan ahead where possible to reduce queues close to the start line.

Can I wear headphones?

Accepted Answer

The headphone policy has been updated for 2026 in line with England Athletics guidance. Bone-conducting headphones are permitted. All other headphones (in-ear or over-ear) are not permitted.

Why are only bone-conducting headphones allowed?

Accepted Answer

Bone-conducting headphones sit outside the ear and allow runners to hear ambient sound, marshal instructions, and traffic management directions while listening to audio. Traditional in-ear or over-ear headphones block environmental sound, which is a safety risk on this course.

What happens if I wear non-permitted headphones?

Accepted Answer

Marshals and event staff need to be able to communicate clearly with runners. Runners wearing non-permitted headphones may be disqualified.

Can you confirm whether my specific headphone model is bone-conducting?

Accepted Answer

No. The organisers are unable to confirm individual headphone models. If you are unsure, check the manufacturer’s description before race day and do not email asking for confirmation.

Where is the finish line?

Accepted Answer

The finish is at the Pavilion Front Car Park. The finish area is streamlined to keep runners moving and avoid congestion. Please continue moving through the finish area as directed by marshals and avoid stopping immediately after crossing the line.

What do I receive at the finish?

As you exit the finish funnel, you will receive your finisher’s medal. There is a different medal for the Half Marathon and the Half Half — please ensure you have the correct medal before leaving the finish area.

Are there prizes?

Prizes are awarded for the Half Marathon only. The Half Half is a non-competitive event with finisher medals only. Half Marathon prizes go to: top 3 male and female overall, and top 3 male and female age group winners from 18–24, 25–29, and in five-year age bands through to 75–79.

When is the prize presentation?

Prize presentations are aimed for 11:00–11:15, once a full and verified set of results is available.

Do I need to stay for the presentation to collect my prize?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Prizes must be collected in person on the day. Uncollected prizes will not be posted out. Check the results to see if you have won before leaving.

Can I get a refund?

A 50% refund is available up to 1 month prior to the event. Entries became non-refundable after this date and no refunds are then available.

Can I transfer my entry to someone else?

Waitlist transfers were available until Sunday 22nd February 2026. After this date, no transfers are possible. If a transfer was available, it had to be completed through the entry system — not manually or by email. To transfer, locate your original booking confirmation email, log in to your entry account using the link provided, and follow the on-screen options.

Do I need to notify anyone if I withdraw from the race?

No. You do not need to notify the organisers of a withdrawal unless you are requesting a transfer in line with the transfer policy.

Is there an official race charity?

Yes. The official charity partner is Weldmar Hospicecare, who provide specialist care to adults across Dorset living with a life-limiting illness, and support for their families.

How can I fundraise for Weldmar?

Set up a JustGiving page, share your story, and run knowing your efforts are helping local people. By raising £250, you could help fund an average of 18 days of care through Weldmar’s Specialist Hospice at Home service.

Yes. Runners who raise £250 are eligible to have their race entry fee refunded by Weldmar as a thank you.
