CANCER RESEARCH UK – BRIDGWATER AND DISTRICT FRIENDS

Without this money we would not see the advances made in science and medicine towards treatment and a cure and the increase in survival rates.

Cancer Research UK is entirely dependent upon public funds for all the important research they carry out and that is why every penny that is raised makes a difference.

We are the Bridgwater & District Friends of Cancer Research UK, and are a small, but thriving, group of local volunteers dedicated to raising money for a great cause.

The Districts of Sedgemoor and Bridgwater are covered by our committee, who meet monthly and organise functions and collections which raise money to fund research.

The Group has raised in excess of £750,000 for Cancer Research UK since it was formed, half of which has been raised in the past five years, which is a fantastic achievement.

The important milestone of £500,000 was reached in 2011, but this could not have done this without the hard work of our volunteers, the generosity and support of local businesses, individuals and the local community.

In 2010 the group were the very proud recipients of the charity’s ‘Flame of Hope’ award, which is only given to the most exceptional volunteers, who have shown outstanding dedication.

This was presented to our group and it was lovely to be recognised by Cancer Research UK for our efforts in fundraising in this way.

Our hard working band of helpers brave all winds and weathers to help at our events and collections and generally have good fun also.

Local communities and companies are very supportive whenever they can.

Would you like to help?? The type of events we typically have are Dog shows, Runs, fashion shows, bingos, sales and collections.
Maybe you have an idea for a new venture?
