Great Race, very hard as on parts of the Olympic mountain bike course, only one moan, please change the course so no long delay at the first gate.

Great

The Race, Organisation and the "weather", were first class. The only sticky point, no pun intented, was at the "kissing gate" as it has been named. Bit of a traffic jam although the organisors had tried there best to mitigate this by staggering the start. That aside, perfect.
Thanks to everyone, especialy the 36 Marshals for guiding the way and there encouragement.
Thank you all.
Keith.

Very tough on hills so not for faint hesrted

I was very frustrated to be held up for 20 mins at a bottleneck only 10 mins into race ..found it mentally hard to get going again and it took longer as had to let elite runners through ..I was trying for a personal best and this made me frustrated and affected my momentum ..you need to change course or stagger runners better

Was my 1st time running this race- was tough but enjoyed it.

Would be great if course could be changed to avoid the congestion on the 1st lap at the ‘kissing gate’ at bottom of the hill,

Well organised and a good atmosphere, though issues with the course.

I enjoyed the run, which is a real test for how well you can run uphill! Well organised and marshalled, and a great atmosphere. The only downside (which was quite a big downside that spoiled the race for me) was the massive bottleneck at the gate and short narrow muddy section in the first 1.5 km. Literally ground to a complete stop, and had to queue for 3-4 minutes to get through this very short impasse and start running again. The course needs a re-think so that this can be avoided next time. It was fine on the second lap by which time the field of runners had spread out. So maybe needs to come later in the first lap?

Hard course but very satisfying when you finish.

Very hard course with plenty of steep ups and sharp downs. Only hiccup was the bottleneck at a very muddy wishing gate to a narrow very muddy lane. The staggered start was a good idea , but in hind sight the time between the staggers should have been longer.to stretch the runners out more. But it only happened on the first lap. no other problems, well signed and great marshalling as usual.

Welcoming

It was a tough route and there are certain aspects that felt unsafe at times especially the barbed wire fence next to the really muddy part of the course and whilst you warned people about this before the start it was natural that people would reach out to hold themselves up. I'm not sure your pre-race communication made it very clear how challenging the race was but perhaps that's my naivety.

Hardy hilly race, well organised in a beautiful area

This is a physically demanding 10k, not for the faint hearted!
Very well organised and great fun though.

A great, fun race

Only one issue, the first kissing gate was a major bottleneck. According to my watch I was standing still for 11minutes waiting to get through it. The course needs to be routed different to avoid it so near the start.

Fantastic but badly let down by the kissing gate blockage.

Action should have been taken to firm up the muddy path and perhaps sought to temporarily remove the kissing gate. I stood for eleven minutes to get through this. It needed biodegradable material such as straw to firm the ground but wider than this the Country Park need to look at improving tracks such as this.

Not a PB course but a fantastic challenge

I have a love/hate relationship with the Hadleigh Legacy 10k, but I must love it more than hate it having completed it nine times now. It is a shame the route is no longer on the 2012 Olympics BMX course, so no boulders to clamber over or zig-zag paths to negotiate, but the organisers made up for that with plenty of mud and hills.

The facilities at Hadleigh are great (though the car parking charges are astronomical, like at all of the Essex country parks these days). We were told that the start would be in waves and that we would realise why when we reached the kissing gate at around the first mile. Unfortunately, the waves weren’t staggered enough. Those of us towards the back of the field reached the kissing gate to find a huge crowd ahead of us trying to get through, not helped by the fact that the gate was followed by a narrow path full of the stickiest mud you could ever encounter. More stagger next year please! It was actually faster on the second lap, when the field had thinned out.

The marshals were fantastic all the way around the course, and the medal is one of the best from a race of this sort. So, will I do my tenth Hadleigh Legacy 10k next year? Hell, yes!
