Would do again
Ask what tee shirt size you want when entering .as at the end only had medium and small neither which will fit me so cannpt advertise event when training
My favourite marathon
Highly recommend this race. Beautiful scenery, well organised, friendly and great cakes at the end. What’s not to like?
Great outing onto the Downs
Well organised and friendly event. Great views if you look around as you go. Off-road, but flints make it hard under-foot. You need speed up and down the hills to make the best of the course.
fantastic race. the price is just right. hopefully next year we can encourage more people to enter.
Great location for for the race and well organised!
Support this local race and get involved. Organised by local people this is a superb race, not a commercial sell out!
Once done, you'll do it again
From start to finish it was fantastic. The support at the start with parking, the friendly atmosphere and a big thank you to all the refreshment stations and support. But to top it all off, at the finish, the drinks and cakes and how nice everyone was made the day complete.
I really enjoyed it and will bring friends (runners) back next year to compete. Thank you
Super event with wonderful organisation
It is called the tough one for a reason
Brilliant race. Well organised great atmosphere. A bit more variety at the aid stations would have been good. Otherwise fantastic race. Loved it.
A thoroughly enjoyable day on quite a tough course.
A constructive criticism to a very well organised event.
I would have liked to have seen more signage and a few marshals (other than those on the checkpoints) throughout the course. On the junction before the last checkpoint there was no direction arrow to the left but as I could view the checkpoint in the distance I made the right choice but with inclement weather I would not have seen that checkpoint.
Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful.
Nice run and a fairly challenging event for a good cause
I like that this is run to raise money for a local charity. Well run, easy to get to, good crowd. Nice local event for a good cause.
A tough marathon but definitely one of the best in a stunning location .. Really well organised the aid stations are brilliant and the whole event has a great vibe about it
I couldn't recommend it highly enough
Fabulous run with tough hills.
love this scenic run
Half or Full marathon. Town cryer send off and greet at finish. Both runs stunning scenic. Well orgaised. Good medal lovely techy t shirt. And an amazing cake spread at the finish. What's not to like.
Good and frequent refreshments with friendly marshals at them. Good to see reusable cups.
Could have done with a few more direction arrows in one or two places... I would have been unsure if I was running without friends.
I've been on quite a few runs now where no cups are provided but participants carry their own. It seems to work if you find the plastic reusable cups didn't work for you this time.
I really enjoyed the event. Thank you.
Very impressed..best half I've ever taken part in..not too big..
Lots of friendly marshalls and lots of drink stations and also cake and biscuits and crisps and bananas at the finish..amazing..I will definitely be back
Excellent but hard trail race
As always this is an excellent race - happy, friendly, smiley Marshall’s and volunteers.
The course is always well sign-posted with several aid stations - more than needed which is excellent! ... very impressed by this years move to re-usable plastic cups - I hope other races take note of this & follow suit.
Toilets at the beginning - loads available, toilet queue doesn’t take long and most importantly they were actually clean (which is often not the case with loads of nervous runners!)
Organisers and the race director should give themselves a well deserved pat on the back!
The half is a good challenge for a first timer but with several distance runs completed.
Absolutely loved it - challenging course, great atmosphere, well organised!
The weather was perfect, the marshals terrific, and the organisation superb!
My first 3F, won’t be my last!
Well organised race that still has the personal touch
More support needed to park. Marshall’s just stood there glaring at me with car park full signs in their hands but no help to find on street parking. I was lucky I’ve been before. If you sell that many places you have some responsibility to help runners park sensibly in the local area.
Still waiting for chip time at 8pm this evening ?!
Brilliant event beautifully organised and marshsalled. Silky smooth
I think the cut off of 6 miles was a worry to some which is a shame as it would put off entries. Maybe a rolling start like the Steyning Stinger so that slower ru ners could start 30 minutes earlier?
A very tough course with lots of climbing, up into the downs, all windy and wild.! .Lovely, family friendly start, cheery volunteers and nice aid stations . Love it !
Only as to question 6 - a beginner could run this provided they have trained over the elevations etc - its the hills that kick your arse so to speak !
Going to try full marathon next time. That good.
A challenge but brilliant
Second time I’ve done it and I’ll be back
Well organised race.
Beautiful Sussex hills - be prepared, it is really hilly!
Great race. Friendly, helpful aid stations. Nice t shirt and medal plus lots of cake and bananas etc at finish. Tough route maybe not for beginners. Uneven underfoot means you have to watch where you put your feet rather than enjoy the scenery.
Might be useful to have space for runners details on the reverse of running numbers in case of emergency.
lovely race. hilly but not awful. could do with few more marshalls as you could take a wrong turn. though admittedly i’m terrible for going wrong on races
Outstanding scenery and organisation!
Wouldn’t recommend for a complete novice.
Can't wait for next year
Absolutely loved it!
Great organisation (Rotary Club always seem to be supreme marshals), relaxed and friendly atmosphere, spectacular course scenery, challenging ups and lovely downs, Town Crier start, Mayor presenting medals, free snacks at the finish. Trail running heaven - if you've been thinking about it and thinking "The Tough One" sounds like it's only for "good" runners, worry not and just sign up. You'll not regret it, especially if you do it with friends.
One of the best races in the UK - course, atmospher, etc with fantastic marshals (Rotary are awesome)!
Excellent, great organisation, friendly event
Yes, it IS a tough one!! (And that's just the Half!)
Fantastic Three Forts
My favourite race
I have now run the half marathon five times and the full marathon once. Beautiful route although tough terrain. Excellent aid stations, friendly marshals, awesome cake at the end. I love this race and will keep coming back.
Love every minute of it!
