Overview
This inaugural race is a wonderful 5 mile race addition to the local running calendar; a fast, mostly flat course with plenty of PB potential, starting in the shadow of the iconic Abbeygate and exploring the roads and footpaths around Colchester before bringing runners home at the top of Abbeyfield. It's a community event filled with friendly vibes and a spirited race day buzz that you won't want to miss.

In memory of
This event celebrates and honours Arthur Whiston, on the 1st anniversary of his sudden passing in July 2024. Arthur was integral to The Colchester Harriers, a long term member known by all in the Harriers and the running community of Colchester and beyond and who influenced many generations of runners: Loved by all.

This race will not include finishers medals due to Arthur's respect of the environment and the legacy that he left; instead, we will use the funds to maximise the donations to the Trust that Arthur cited in his will and ensure that, as such, our chosen charity receives the maximum funds possible from the race.

Route Information
Starts: Abbeygate, Colchester (Entrants will gather at the field behind the Garrison Tracks and walk to the start... approx 5 mins)
Finish: Behind Garrison Tracks, Colchester
Course: Predominantly traffic free & suitable for all abilities. It is especially good for those chasing a 5-mile PB as this is a largely flat course and has the benefit of many wide paths to accommodate runners. The race will pass the Serenity Gardens, in honour of Arthur.
