Flat, friendly, good instructions

This was a lovely little event, very well organised. Seemed like it had a good gender balance of runners and no one needed nav skills. Manchester tart was lovely.

Fantastic event with great support!

Very well organised event, routes and distances for all ability runners. John and his team provide fantastic support from signing up, communication before event, helpful tips/Q&A on social media, event day bib collection, check points, food/drinks supplies, during race marshals, photos, finish line medals and hot food. The atmosphere and volunteers were amazing and so supportive. The scenery was so lovely and I would highly recommend it's grim up north running events. We will definitely be signing up for many more. Thank you for a great race and experience!

As always great event, well organised and a super atmosphere

A big thank you for the understanding when I had to retire before completing the marathon due to a recurrence of a groin injury. I'll be back!!!

Beautiful run with lovely refreshments and friendly organisers

The lady on the 10K turn point was busy chatting to a lady with a dog she seemed to know and we nearly missed the turn as did 2 other runners unless I saw the flag but I realise she is a volunteer. Also, perhaps some First Aid advice would have been good.

Lovely and easy routed run

My first time doing a half marathon and doing a running race in general (unless you count a parkrun haha!) and I really enjoyed the event, it was great for beginners, made me feel at ease and calm, everyone there was lovely and helpful.

The staff were fantastic too, always answered your questions well or got the correct person quickly if they could not answer themselves! Great for beginners, and a great atmosphere!

Nice and flat

What a fab day, good atmosphere- all the other runners were very supportive. Nice and sunny and a burger to finish was a winner for me

Simple but pleasant

I ran the 10 mile route. Flat course along the river, narrow in places and had to hurdle a few dogs, but generally had space to run and scenic course, but lonely at times. Great medal and snacks at the end. Whilst I understand not providing cups saves money and littering I do think they should be provided for the half marathon and 10 mile athletes, and/or faster athletes who don’t want to carry additional weight or stop to get their bottle refilled.

Repetative 2 loops

I ran the xmas cracker marathon 9 years ago but the weather was bad so had to do 2 laps of the half. I really wanted an early spring marathon and woukd have been so much better a full out and back. I guess it makes it easier to marshall with not so many stations.
I ran a far better race than last time though whichni am.pleased with.
I would like to add that the whole team are super nice though and thank you all fot a great day.
Would have been nice if the medal actually said maratgon onnit somewhere, even on the band.
Thanks again

Really friendly event

I ran the 10k. Route is great; an out and back. It was flat. All the information was accurate and the people there were super helpful. Definitely recommend it.

First Grim Event - Already looking at others!

Never heard of Grim Up North events before.. I had to do a 10mile on my running plan and happened across this one, just over an hour's drive from home.. very happy that I did!

Firstly, it is a smallish group (less than 500 I think they said) running 5 distances.. so not as intimidating as some of the other races!

It was super well organised, instructions received pre-race were clear and accurate and everyone was friendly (as you'd expect up north ;) haha!)..

I am a slow runner, but I read that this was open to beginners, plus being on the canal it was moderately flat.. although a lot of the runners were very fast today! (I was quickly humbled at the back!).

... and super value for money!

We had a lovely day for it.. will definitely be attending another event in the next few months! Thank you!!

Superb morning!

Another fantastic event organised by the Grim Team. You can tell by the amount of people there today how good these events are. Met some lovely, like-minded people, the weather was perfect and the food was excellent. Thanks to all the marshalls and event organisers. Another successful day, and I got a PB!!

Blummin’ brilliant

My friend and I were talking on the way home about how good Grim is. Always great events, fantastic staff, excellent goodies and, today, even burgers at the end!

Just love their races.
